In response to widespread calls for dropping their ban on open participation of gays in Scouting, Boy Scouts of America has presented its leadership with an ugly decision.

On Thursday, May 23, 1,400 members of BSA’s National Council will vote whether to allow gays up to the age of 18 to participate openly.

The slanderous message that the BSA board sends by proposing this question is that they believe at age 18 gays — even those who are Eagle scouts — magically become a threat to children.

The ballot doesn’t allow Council members to vote to repeal the ban gay members over age 18, or to vote to repeal the ban on the participation of the gay parents of heterosexual scouts.

I can’t wait to see what the badge for Kicking Out My Fellow Scout looks like.
