Oopsie, NOM: “The Seattle-based coffee chain said Thursday its profit rose 13 percent in the latest quarter in line with Wall Street expectations.”
Early in 2012 National Organization for Marriage launched the Dump Starbucks boycott campaign in response to Starbucks’ support of marriage equality.
Late last year, NOM ranked Dump Starbucks among its “Top Ten Marriage Victories of 2012“. They’ve got a bridge in Brooklyn they’d like to sell you, too.

I think what NOM doesn’t get is that people like being associated with a company that NOM doesn’t like. There’s a slight hip factor to that which makes people feel good about themselves.
Funny. I know that NOM wasn’t “behind” that Support Chick-Fil-A campaign when Gay Rights advocates protested against the Cathy Family’s homophobic contributions. I can remember all these conservatives whiiiiiing about how unfaaaaair it was for LGBT’s to protest Chick-Fil-A bc, after all, LGBT could *eat* there… it’s just that the Cathy Family wanted to be massively homophobic with their filthy lucre.
I’m sure those very same conservatives are totally supportive of NOM’s boycott of Starbucks.
Of course, in the mind of conservatives, what NOM is doing is sacrosanct. The LGBT boycott of Chick-Fil-A was entirely different and unfair.
Did I get that right?????
Boo-yah.
Yeah. Nobody is going to dump Starbucks because NOM says so. Au contraire.
(I usually stick to local java purveyors but I’ll make a point of stopping at Starbucks and having a vente something.)
Sorry, but I won’t be stopping in at Starfucks… I hate burned coffee, and I probably loathe their new “so your old Mama hates dark roast” commercials even more. They’re a blight.
Starbucks!!??
If I need a coffee to go, I’ll brew at home first……. and then go.
I rarely buy a cup of coffee at Starbucks, but I have bought their coffee beans to grind and brew at home.
I enjoy House Blend. Sue me.
I would not eat at Chick Fil A, even though I have heard it’s delicious.
Still, things can’t be all good for a homophobe named Mr. Cathy.
You have to admire the way NOM turns reality on its head — Let’s see, they lost the election in Washington State and Starbucks’ profits are up 13%, and that’s one of their “Top Ten Marriage Victories.”
It’s at the point where, if Brian Brown makes a statement, you know the exact opposite it the truth.
I haven’t seen that commercial about ‘your old mama’ but it sounds pretty offensive to me. I mean, you can either sell your stuff or you can’t. I wouldn’t blame my retail business failures on old mamas, if I were Starbucks.
Well OK so the coffee isn’t great but if NOM dislikes them they can’t be all bad.
Vente Caramel Frappuccino! YUM!
I like Starbucks coffee, and feel great supporting them wherever I can find a store,,
Sold! It even sounds good to drink/eat.
