Nothing like slinging insults at the very people you’re trying to persuade, especially when you allege that you have the edge on morality. Something tells me that most Rhode Island legislators know better than to give any mind to the anti-gay animus peddled by this Washington, D.C.-based organization.

“#Marriage is too important to be left to the whims of heavily lobbied politicians. http://myop.us/V9qmLb Join us today at 3pm!”
On Tuesday the Rhode Island House Judiciary Committee voted unanimously (11 – 0) to advance the marriage bill to the House floor. The full House will vote on the marriage bill today. Rhode Islanders United for Marriage is asking supporters to meet at the State House before 2pm wearing RED to show their support for the freedom to marry.
Update: Follow Twitter coverage of events as they unfold via the hashtag #RI4M. WRPI will be live-streaming the debate here starting at 4 pm.

Leaving to the whims of states the issue of equal right to marriage for members of the GLBT community is folly, especially while DOMA is still the law of the land.
This is still very relevant because while we won BIG last night in the RI House, the Senate vote is still ahead and the outcome is less certain.
I have to smile. I’ve lived in the 3-corner area joining CT,RI,MA all my life. Of those, RI is the most enigmatic and unpredictable. That’s only one of the many reasons you have to love it.
