You know, no matter how nice Maggie Gallagher and company tries to dress up the National Organization for Marriage’s rhetoric, when the organization is not successful, it always goes back to basic homophobia and fear tactics such as the following “gays are coming after your children” ad it ran in Rhode Island recently:
No matter how much sweet frosting you put on manure, it is always manure. But here is the thing that I like. The group in Rhode Island pushing for marriage equality, Rhode Islanders United for Marriage, didn’t sit on its ass.
Instead, it refuted NOM’s junk extremely quick:

NOM cares about children so much that if same sex marriage is approved and anti-discrimination laws are in place that they will screw over all the children that their adoption agencies would place with straight folks just so they don’t have to place any children with same sex parents.
But they don’t want to talk about all the public funds Catholic Charities take from local governments to place those children.
Just saying, since NOM and the Catholic Church are virtually one organization after all.
well….. for me as a gay this is the “dog whistle” the blacks usually hear. And for me its one of the most offensive.
IMO its slyly trying to dredge up the old fundy factoid that the Gays want your kids!!!!! We cant reproduce so the only way we can make more gays for our orgies is to turn YOUR kids. You know, because their kids would never be gay unless some chicken hawk swoops in and confuses them. So we gays arent natural pedophiles because we are perverts, its simply the way we procreate.
