Scott Lively, an instigator of Uganda’s ‘Kill The Gays’ Anti-Homosexuality bill, doesn’t save all his bile for the gays. He’s got some blood lust for strippers too, it seems.
For about two years I have been including imprecatory prayers in our church services and Bible studies at Holy Grounds Coffee House. Imprecatory prayers are Old Testament prayers for the defeat and destruction of the enemies of God and his people. A New Testament variation on these prayers is to ask God to save the people but destroy the institutions. Our prayers, part of our seven year campaign to re-Christianize the City of Springfield, have included an appeal to God to destroy the works of Satan in this city. We have specifically included the strip clubs in these prayers.
Yesterday the three story Scores strip club on Worthington Street was completely obliterated in a gas explosion, right down to the ground.
I believe this was the hand of God at work in answer to our prayers.
Oh, but he made sure to add that “We also thank God that no one was seriously injured in this blast, though it was enormous.” According to Boston Globe “only” 18 people were injured by the explosion. On top of that a “water-and-sewer worker as well as two other people were also hurt,” not to mention that “A number of other buildings in the area were significantly damaged.”
But from Lively’s point of view it was totally worth it because, you know, strippers.
Lively is asking his followers to “join me in the following prayer for the further cleansing of Springfield”. Here’s an excerpt:
Father in Heaven, in the name of Jesus we beseech you to claim our city for your own, to be Lord of Springfield in the hearts and minds of its people, and to establish goodness and morality among us. …Finally Lord, we pray that you would destroy the works of Satan in this city and ask you demolish them in such a way that it is clearly by your hand alone and not the works of men, saving the people but destroying the institutions that have set themselves against your truth. We pray this with full awareness that we ourselves are just sinners saved by grace, asking you to cleanse us from sin as well, and to increase our faith that you are still the God of miracles. In Jesus name. Amen.

On the other hand, Scott Lively had no problems with hiring a convicted child molester, considered likely to be a repeat offender, as live-in manager of his “coffee shop” whose primary purpose was to entice unsuspecting teenagers into his hate parlor.

Lively’s god brags about killing 2,476,633, by name or number, in the bible. It’s estimated ten times that number were killed in other violent acts, by his god, in the bible.

That debate would be choice, but unfortunately, Joe “Deadbeat Dad” Walsh is from Illinois. And just lost his seat in Congress to Tammy Duckworth.
Guy sounds like a character in a crime drama, the one who turns out to be the serial killer but you thought it couldn’t be him because it would have been too obvious.

Funny as how I don’t see any troll on here today painting the entire state of Massachusetts with the same brush because of the words of one fool as I did when a certain crazy preacher in North Carolina advocated putting gays inside a fence (I was even lectured on this by a self righteous asshate from California while on vacation this year.
Perhaps it’s because MA has passed numerous gay-friendly laws and NC has done the opposite? No state should ever be painted with a broad brush, but some have earned the honor of coming closer to deserving it than others.
I would say “way to be a Christian and love your fellow man, dude” but he’d take that the wrong way. Besides, is God an incompetent utility worker?
How is a gas explosion a miracle than cannot berationally explained as anything other than the hand of God? Eejit.
And the club owner and the strippers are no doubt thanking God, or their lucky stars, or some such, that they will soon have a new and improved strip club via property insuarnce.

Also, it’s interesting that in a post about rabid homophobia AND hatred of sex workers, which many fewer people give a shit about, all you can do is moan about the reputation of poor, poor North Carolina.
This guy prides himself on taking the culture wars to western mass, which is one of the most liberal places in the nation. Sort of gets off on takin’ it to the front line. Nearby Northampton is chock full of lesbians and the whole area is full of college students and liberals who’ve found it a open-minded place to settle.
Anyway, I was stuck on I-91 in the middle of springfield when that bad tornado hit last year–you weren’t allowed off the highway and nothing was moving, police everywhere. It really messed up springfield. Now there’s this bad gas explosion one year later and lively is thanking god. He has overstepped the boundary now. He’s probably the most disliked man in springfield today.
Boy is he going to be pissed. It seems a Gas Company worker mistakenly pierced a gas line causing the explosion. I can only hope the Gas Company’s insurance company rebuilds a bigger and better strip club. LOL
