The numbers are impressive. From Washington United for Marriage:

Hundreds of volunteers for Washington United for Marriage (WUM), the broad coalition working to approve Referendum 74, fanned the state over the weekend, logging more than 82,000 calls to voters in phone banks from Spokane to Vancouver, making it the largest “Get Out The Vote” (GOTV) ground game so far in the campaign to defend the state’s marriage law.

From door knocking to prayer vigils by Catholics for Marriage Equality in Seattle and Yakima, WUM volunteers racked up 1,500 hours, a total that is expected to double this coming weekend in the final stretch before Election Day.

Among the highlights:

–The largest door-belling event of the weekend was Saturday’s “Trick or Vote!” in Seattle, where several hundred WUM and Washington Bus volunteers in Halloween costumes braved the weather to canvass neighborhoods, knocking on more than 8,000 doors.

– Sunday afternoon, hundreds of people representing Catholics for Marriage Equality Washington held prayer vigils outside Catholic cathedrals in Seattle and Yakima to voice their support for Referendum 74. – Also on Sunday, Catholics for Marriage Equality Washington ran full page ads in The Seattle Times, Everett Herald and Yakima Herald-Republic with the names of 1,000 “committed Catholics of Washington State,” urging their fellow Catholics to support R74.

– On Friday, Vancouver Mayor Tim Leavitt and Battle Ground Mayor Lisa Walters endorsed Referendum 74 and joined the volunteer effort. Fifteen Washington mayors have now endorsed R74.

– At a Sunday night ballot casting party in Tacoma, State Rep. Laurie Jinkins led a voting party, which included a call for action in these final days.

“The breadth of support for protecting the freedom to marry in Washington is both remarkable and inspiring,” said WUM campaign manager Zach Silk. “This is literally the home stretch and our volunteers get it — that all of us want to leave everything on the field and know we’ve done everything possible to support Washington families and approve R74.”
