“Youths are easily influenced by websites and blogs relating to LGBT [lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender] groups. This can also spread among their friends. We are worried that this happens during schooling time.”
Who said that, Archbishop Sartain? Tony Perkins? Scott Lively? Brian Brown? Rick Santorum? No, those words were spoken by the Malaysian deputy education minister, Puad Zarkashi, according to Reuters.
The Malaysian government has begun holding seminars aiming to help teachers and parents spot signs of homosexuality in children, underscoring a rise in religious conservatism in the Muslim majority nation. …
“It is a multi-religious and multicultural [event], after all, all religions are basically against that type of behaviour,” said the official.
The federal government said in March that it is working to curb the “problem” of homosexuality, especially among Muslims who make up over 60% of Malaysia’s 29 million people.
Not much daylight between that witch hunt in Malaysia and this one in the United States:
GIRL: Mom, guess what I learned in school today?!MOM: What, sweetie?
GIRL: I learned how a prince married a prince, and I can marry a princess.
AUTHORITY FIGURE: Think it can’t happen? It’s already happened.
How sad that conservative Christians and Muslims only find common ground in their hatred towards a vulnerable minority. Fear mongering, the universal language.

No surprise that anti-gay Christianity and anti-gay Islam look alike. Any religion with a significant number of adherents is bound to have an extremist faction. At the most basic level, religious fundamentalism is not a theological issue, it’s a psychological issue.
Add to that the casual, taken for granted misogyny ( which I believe is at the root of ALL oppression esp gay) and you really can’t tell the difference at all….except the vagarious names for Big Sky Daddy, that is.
The Christians biggest fear, Sharia Law. They only want to introduce their own law that is similar.
Ooh, here is Miss Betty Bowers, America’s best Christian, to explain ‘bible’based marriage’. Hilarious!
