I’ll leave it to you to decide which statement is dumb or dumber. These jaw-dropping examples of idiocy are, I suppose, to be expected based on the sources.
First up to bat – Rick Santorum sounds like he’s simply crying for attention now that he’s out of the 2012 GOP Clown Car road race. Wearing his pious, hypocritical ultra-con Catholicism on his sleeve yet again, he bleats this latest “threat” to religious freedom: Obamacare will force Catholics into confession. He said this while stumping for Mittens in Ohio:
SANTORUM: We have a president who, for the first time in American history, is directly assaulting the First Amendment and freedom of religion. He is going to tell you what to do in the practice of your faith. He is forcing business people right now to do things that are against their conscience, that they will have to — if you’re a Catholic — you’ll have to go to confession … to confess that you are complying with a government program that is a sin in the Catholic Church.
WTF? Did someone drop Little Ricky on his head? So we’re now past the women-are-sinning argument for using birth control, on to employers with contracts with insurance companies that provide the birth control are hellbound — or forced into confession and sent off to do few Hail Marys. How’s that for rational public policy debate? Think Progress:
Federal judges have already begun to throw out lawsuits against Obamacare, pointing out that there is no compelling evidence of religious discrimination inherent to the law. And in spite of the fabricated controversy over sinful birth control coverage, many large Catholic universitiescovered contraceptive services even before the health reform law required them to do so.

And I’m alternately amused and tired of bubble-headed comments from washed-up right wing “celebrities” (Chuck Norris, Stephen Baldwin, Victoria Jackson, Kirk Cameron, Joe the Plumber) that are so preposterous that if I were a conservative, I’d hang my head in shame. In the case of Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine, my guess is that intentionally or unintentionally, he’s gunning (no pun intended) for the throne of rock political @sshattery currently occupied by Motor City Madman Ted Nugent. Although I could be wrong — this offensive conspiracy laden bullsh*t is probably worthy of the craptastic birther-on-the-Arizona-taxpayer dime Sheriff Joe Arpaio.
How’s this for capitalizing on gun violence — the massacres of moviegoers in Colorado and worshippers at a Sikh temple in Wisconsin are not only Obama’s fault — he staged it!
“Back in my country, my president,” Mustaine begins and then pretends to gag himself with his finger, “is trying to pass a gun ban so he’s staging all of these murders. The ‘Fast and Furious’ thing down at the border. And Aurora, Colorado, all the people that were killed there. And now, the beautiful people at the Sikh temple.” Mustaine went on to say, “I don’t know where I’m going to live if America keeps going the way it’s going because it looks like it’s turning into Nazi America.”
Someone open the door and offer him the exit from the U.S. Please. Mustaine’s comments outraged one of the shooting victims in Aurora.
TMZ spoke with Carli Richards … who sustained multiple gunshot wounds when James Holmes opened fire during a screening of “Dark Knight Rises” last month.
After watching the footage of Mustaine blaming Obama for “staging” the Aurora shooting to push an anti-gun agenda, Richards is lashing back … telling us, “Some people think the President is a good scapegoat but he didn’t shoot me. It’s obviously kind of absurd and people who make up conspiracies just want attention.”
“Everybody is emotional at this time and needs to blame somebody I guess. I don’t think they realize the consequences of not being responsible for your own actions and James Holmes needs to be held accountable for his, to whatever way the justice system deems fit.”

And then there’s this guy. There’s enough stupid in the Senate, he’s running against Claire McCaskill and doesn’t seem to have any more of a clue about how babies are made than Rush Limbaugh does and he is also making his lack of learning basic sex ed in grade school obvious. There’s also a “legitimate” type of rape, WTF?
