Oh sh*t. What will we hear next — boy, Sambo, or lawn jockey? How about rubbing POTUS’s cranium for good luck? The GOP trash just can’t help it.
Congressman Joe Walsh’s KKKlan robes must have been at the dry cleaners so he couldn’t wear his gear to this BBQ in his Illinois district to talk about the Tea Party’s role in this year’s election. (TPM):
“There’s something different on the ground, and I think it’s going to overtake us all again, think it’s going to overtake the political class. I think it’s going to respectfully pick this president up and pat him on the head and say, son, son, son, Mr. President, you were never ready to be president, now go home and work for somebody and find out how the real world works.”
Walsh said he was just “having fun” when he made the remarks.
Walsh said that “every time anybody criticizes [Obama], the racist card is thrown out.”
Classy.

Every time somebody says something racist, the racist card is thrown out.
Republicans don’t even bother to be subtle about their racism anymore.
Pam, Pam, Pam……..you should know better. KKK robes do NOT require dry cleaning. Just some Tide, a little bleach, fabric softener and tumble dry.
Ask Joe, he’ll straighten you out.
Although we’ve come a long way since the 60′s, we still got a ways to go.
Moron. He’d better hope God is not black.
ATTENTION PEOPLE OF ILLINOIS…
If you send this lunatic back to Congress you’ll be doing the American people a TREMENDOUS diservice. People like Joe Walsh do not belong in the halls of our legislative process.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE…
Fire Joe Walsh and replace him with someone who exhibits some shred of intelligence
We have fulfilled Ag Secy (Nixon admin) Earl Butz’s axiom, that “mediocre people need representation [on the Supreme Court, re: Carswell] too.”
Only we’ve sunk much farther than mediocre. This is a person who should never have been elected to any office at all.
Just sad what has happened to our once-promising republic (not saying the promise was ever fulfilled…just..oh well.)
Even the part about getting a job sounded racist to me…. Not open a business but go work for somebody. Probably a white male somebody.
Maybe this is a guy thing but being called Son infuriates me. Its so insulting. As a grown man the only time Im called son is by the police. And usually they are nearly 20 years YOUNGER than me. IMO its degrading with out the obvious racial implication.
For me too, if people dont immediately catch on that what they said was racist/sexist/homophobic/etc and say Opps or sorry it usaully mean they are racist/sexist/homophobic/etc
Walsh makes me embarrased to be a human being.
I’m calling BS on this whole thread. Guess that makes me a racist.
It’s obvious that calling Obama son and patting him on the head (rhetorically, btw) was intended to be condescending and make reference to his lack of experience and relative youth, but I don’t think it is “racist”. It may be a more typically southern thing to call a younger person “son”, still not racist. I wouldn’t interpret “son” the same way as “boy” which has pretty longstanding and significant racial connotations.
I would be more inclined to judge the speaker harshly on his ridiculous and unnecessary reference to a “Dorito width” or whatever he said – wtf is that supposed to mean? And then he didn’t even eat the chip?! That would have been some pretty effective speech comm 101 shit there.
I’m going to laugh and laugh and laugh when the Iraqi War vet with no legs beats the shit out of this asshole!
While driving through AZ this week (and back home to NM)I passed a roadside election sign showing Obama’s portrait next to the campaign logo above “POTUS” (for president of the United States) but the T and the U were crossed out, leaving POS (piece of sh*t.) It was a commercially made sign, so somebody is selling or distributing them. So Arizona…
Calling Obama “son” and patting him on the head is condescending and demeaning, but not racist. Likewise, telling him to get a job is just a reflection of Walsh’s negative view of the presidents abilities and the relative negative value of government work. Alleging statements like this are racist when they are not will only make people take future legitimate allegations racism seriously.
Now there is a legitimate questions of whether sitting United States Representative should make such statements about the President. Unfortunately, neither party can claim the high ground. Given the President’s recent false and irresponsible ad about Romney killing a woman, I would say he has no room to complain.
Agreed.
Age and experience relative to whom? Obama is both older and more experienced than Walsh. But of course it’s not racist to refer to someone a year older and with several years experience as president as “son”. A white person on the internet said so!
And, let us note, that commercial isn’t “by the president”; it’s one of those PACS who not only don’t, but can’t, “coordinate” with the candidate or his team.
IOW, the Presidenet didn’t make or authorize that ad.
And it isn’t “false.”
Further, it’s not about “Romney killing a woman.” It’s about actions taken by Romney’s company (when Romney was arguably in charge, or set actions in motion) that foreseeably resulted in a woman dying from an illness she could not afford to get treated for.
Nonetheless, btw, death is a perfectly foreseeable result of taking away people’s health insurance, which is a perfectly foreseeable result of taking away their jobs, which is even more foreseeable a result of shutting down all or part of the company they worked for and had health insurance through.
It’s no more outrageous than the swift boat lies (in fact, it isn’t even a lie, and those were flat-out lies) or the repeated flat out lies that Romney keeps making, and refusing to own up to.
So, I don’t mind that ad at all, except as it might turn the delicate-hearts off.
You forgot fields and psalongo – they are obviously white racist people on teh internets too – I’ve seen them at all the meetings anyway.
Illinois seems to be good for that, especially in Dupage county with Henry Hyde and Peter Roskam, but the rest of the state has its moments too. Keep in mind that this guy barely squeaked by, he had about 1/10 of 1% more votes than the Democrat who won so he’s not in a secure seat by any stretch of the imagination.
