The level of sack of sh*ttery this man sinks to is beyond reason. What kind of patriot is Rep. Joe Walsh (R-IL), who, by the way, never served in the military? I guess when Republicans can’t figure out how to win on the issues, pointing a finger at someone who has lost limbs serving her country, Tammy Duckworth, saying that she’s not a hero serves as “strategy.” (Think Progress):
Walsh is running against Tammy Duckworth, a double amputee who lost both her legs in Iraq when insurgents hit her helicopter with an RPG in 2004. The Tea Party freshman opened the Elk Grove town hall by arguing that Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) was reluctant to discuss his own military service in 2008, which made him a “noble hero.” By contrast, “Now I’m running against a woman who, my God, that’s all she talks about,” Walsh said.
WALSH: Understand something about John McCain. His political advisers, day after day, had to take him and almost throw him against a wall and hit him against the head and say, “Senator, you have to let people know you served! You have to talk about what you did!” He didn’t want to do it, wouldn’t do it. Day after day they had to convince him. Finally, he talked a little bit about it, but it was very uncomfortable for him. That’s what’s so noble about our heroes. Now I’m running against a woman who, my God, that’s all she talks about. Our true heroes, it’s the last thing in the world they talk about. That’s why we’re so indebted and in awe of what they’ve done.

They have been doing that to her every time she ran. The last time it was against another super-partisan hack, Peter Roskam (who replaced the equally ridiculous Henry Hyde). That was a pretty close race, I think that all that hurt her was that she wasn’t actually living in the district at the time. Illinois law allows that, she would have had to move if she did win and IIRC, her property wasn’t too far from the border line. With a little gerrymandering… ;^)
Double-down dicks in the Republican party, what a surprise!
And McCain dumped a plane in the Mediterranean after knicking a power line, hot dogging, then did a cute flaming-exhaust hot dog on an air craft carrier that set it on fire. Hero, my ass.
Only one way to even out the score: Walsh is going to have to have his legs lopped off. It’ll make it harder for him to get away next time they’re trying to collect $100,000+ past due child support from him. You see, Joe Walsh is a seriously deadbeat dad, as well as an obnoxious jerk.
Indeed there is a reason why John McCain didn’t talk about his military service. He knew that killing a few of his own compatriots in avoidable accidents and stupidity, then getting himself captured for five years isn’t really an accomplishment of any kind, other than the drive to stay alive. He even stayed below decks during the fiery events he precipitated, and watched the rescue work on closed circuit video. Some hero. He only got out of that Vietnamese prison alive because his father was an admiral in the navy, and the Vietnamese figured he’d be a high value prisoner to trade for their own pows held by the Americans. And that’s how it ended up.
sad thing is, he’s a tea party hero
can we sink any lower?
prick
He doesn’t talk about that, does it make him a deadbeat dad hero? ;^)
Do you remember Chris Cegalis? Ancient history, I know, but Ms. Cegalis, built a grass roots organization and almost unseated Henry Hyde (R IL-06) in 2004 by her own devices, without any help from the DCCC. Rahm brought in Tammy Duckworth for the next go around, and spent beaucoup $$$ on her behalf. The decorated veteran won the Dem Primary but failed to win the General Election, resulting in Rep. Peter Roskam.
Yeah, I do. I voted for her. She really could have done a lot if she had the money and I think that Lt. Col. Duckworth could have won in the district she lived (lives?) in with funding too. A lot of people I talked to who were undecided went with the hack (Roskam) because he was at least in district. As for Roskam, his office is so incompetent or mean that my neighbor sent him a letter and he sent a reply with postage due!
The total joke of this human joke was that he ran on a platform of fiscal responsibility while he was $100,000 in arrears in child support payments.
Walsh is taking a page from the Saxby Chambliss playbook. Draft-dodger Chambliss did the same crap to Max Cleland, who left most of his limbs in Vietnam.
And it worked… That tells me more about the people who voted for him than it does Chambliss, (though what he did was loathsome too).
Human filth.
