This nonsense landed in my inbox a bit ago; the fact that the promo for this “Jerry Lewis’sLabor Day Telethon”-style event hasn’t mentioned even ONE conservative luminary that will appear yet (hold your breath until Monday to find out), doesn’t bode well. It will probably be the usual suspects of the lunatic fringe. For your entertainment, the press release:
HISTORIC 4TH OF JULY TELETHON TO DEFEAT BARACK OBAMA
On Wednesday, July 4th, conservatives will celebrate American freedom and liberty by working to liberate the nation from Barack Obama’s presidency.
A special 5-hour “Defeat Barack Obama Telethon” will broadcast live from Las Vegas, NV and be seen all around the nation and the world via live video and audio streams. The 4th of July “Defeat Barack Obama Telethon” will be based on a similar model to Jerry Lewis’s historic Labor Day Telethons to fight Muscular Dystrophy.
The Telethon will air LIVE from 1:00pm – 6:00pm Pacific / 4:00pm – 9:00pm Eastern.
An array of conservative leaders have already confirmed their participation as featured guests on the “Defeat Barack Obama Telethon” including elected officials, political commentators, authors, radio + TV hosts and more. A full list of guests will be released on Monday, July 2nd and updated each day thereafter.
HOW TO WATCH/LISTEN TO THE TELETHON
On the radio we’ll be broadcasting LIVE from the studios of News/Talk 720 AM in Las Vegas and the online stream can be heard from your computer. Just go to:www.KDWN.com
On Television the Telethon will be broadcast live in Las Vegas on Vegas TV 25 – Cable 14, and from Pahrump on KPVM TV 46.3

This brings dishonor to Jerry Lewis’ memory for a bunch of wing-nut conservatives to even somehow associate their farce of a telethon to his name. Hopefully, most of the wing-nuts won’t fall for this and hopefully these corrupt people won’t get a single shiny penny.
i wonder what the throwback would be if AmericaBlog, DailyKos, Truthout, well any progressive blog or group were to publicize and have a telethon that says something like
my bet would be screams and hollers from the likes of Rove, Fox, Baggers, fundies, etc… there would be spittle coming out of their mouths as they bellowed & moaned and they would find some way to turn it into their being the victims.
i think wingnuttery and batsh**ry are synonyms…
