On the day my legal change of gender, my home city of San Diego became the first city in my home state of California to name a street after lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community civil rights icon Harvey Milk.
The street renaming occurred on what would have been Harvey Milk’s 82nd birthday. The sign for Blaine Street — the now previous name of the street — will be taken down in a year.
Pretty cool we in San Diego have a street named after Harvey Milk, eh?
