Pastor Charles Worley of Providence Road Baptist Church in Maiden, NC recently told his congregation that his solution to dealing with lesbian, gay, bisexual & transgender people is to send them to concentration camps to starve to death. Here he is in a service posted to the church’s website on May 13, 2012.
“Build a great, big, large fence — 150 or 100 mile long — put all the lesbians in there…Do the same thing for the queers and the homosexuals and have that fence electrified so they can’t get out…and you know what, in a few years, they’ll die out…do you know why? They can’t reproduce!”
He also said that if he’s asked who he’ll vote for, he’ll reply, “I’m not going to vote for a baby killer and a homosexual lover!” Many of the congregants cheer and reply, “Amen.” Worley added, “It makes me pukin’ sick to think about — I don’t even whether or not to say this in the pulpit — can you imagine kissing some man?”
There will be a peaceful protest against this bigoted and hate filled rhetoric by Catawba Valley Citizens Against Hate on Sunday, May 27.
Regardless if you are gay or straight, Christian or not… this rhetoric is dangerous and harmful. Taking a peaceful stand for our right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness is paramount.
More details about the protest will be posted to this page soon. Please, only RSVP if you plan to come. If you are out of town, and support our cause but will not be coming to the event, please do not RSVP. In lieu of participating in this event, you can email Pastor Worley at pastor@prbcnc.com, to let him know what you think of his rhetoric. Remember, making threats against Pastor Worley will not help our cause and may result in criminal charges against you. Keep your message clean, clear and peaceful.
And a word of welcome from the pastor…
We offer NO apologies in believing the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible is the inerrant Word of God. If you live in this area or are ever passing through, I invite you to come visit with us at Providence Road Baptist Church.

This points up how correct I am, when I say that as regards LGBT populations, the world is refusing to learn the lesson of the Holocaust. And additionally, of other persecutions involving gay people. Some people set up victim competitions, saying that slavery was worse than anything gay people ever suffered. What that ignores, of course, is that among the slaves, the gay ones were singled out for especially horrific abuses. Slavery and persecution of gays were not separate; they overlapped. Listen to that ignorant pig in the video
I think this “minister” was absent from his Divinity School class the year they talked about what the Bible actually says. Somehow, all that stuff about Jesus talking about love just went right over his little brain.
Also, he’s actually advocating, in the pulpit, that people NOT vote for Obama, which is illegal for a tax-exempt organization. We should demand that the IRS investigate him.
He’s supposed to be a “man of God”? Really?
Yes, really. He is a True Christian[TM]. The Bible is full of unimaginable cruelty and hatred. And not just the OT, never mind stuff like original sin and hell. The No True Scotsman card people keep pulling when faced with people like this truly nauseating.
Build a huge 150 or 100 mile long fence and put all of the homobigoted pastors in it …fly over it and drop some food into it…
Is this pastor part of Doug Coe’s “Family/Fellowship”? This is pretty much what they’re trying to bring to pass in Uganda. Sounds like this nasty piece of work is part of that crowd.
Truly horrendous, but sadly he’s not the only “Christian” pushing for the extermination of LGBT people around the planet.
Shedding light on these kinds of issues is an important first step. Thanks for the post.
This guy should relocate to Afghanistan, he would fit in well in most respects.
I thought Leviticus was part of the “Old Testament”. If one follows the teachings of the “Old Testament” rather than the “New Testament”, wouldn’t that make them Jewish rather than Xtian? Isn’t it about time all these hucksters of imaginary beings start contributing to everyone’s welfare by being subject to taxation of their holdings? It would be the Xtian thing to do.
A Christian Church should be offering unlimited support for the oppressed, not being on the side of, or advocating for the oppressors. This Pastor is fueled by hate, and the people that sit still in the pews of his church are absorbing his hate. The most disappionting aspect of his whole tirade is that “not one” congregant stood and challenged him, or at the very least, walked out. Advocating murder within the walls of the sanctuary? This is not God’s House.
Then, I suppose God will probably judge him.
Wouldn’t want to be in his shoes.

Pst, pst, reverend, listen up. Fuck you!
No Keith around to e-mail nominations to anymore… hmmm…
We just may have to start up a new weekly “Nastiest Asshole in the Multiverse” contest.
We got a nominee for this week.
I always thought the problem was that some half-educated yokels think they should read the Bible, and start at the beginning. Once you get past Genesis, it starts to get really boring and they give up somewhere between Deuteronomy and Leviticus, and all they can remember is the penal stuff. At least the Mormons were upfront with the multiple-wife thing.
Hey, it sells. These guys are nothing but hucksters and their brand of hate sells just fine. Humans love feeling superior to someone else, really anyone else.
I doubt if Obama was counting on this guy’s vote anyway. If it hadn’t been this reason, he’d have had to sit down and come up with another for not voting for a black man. If you hate LGBT people, it’s a pretty safe bet they aren’t the only people you hate.
I sent a link to my pastor, who’s views seem to be evolving. Hopefully it may serve as a reducio ad absurdum for him to see the logical endpoint.
So appalling in so many ways….There is nothing Godly or Christian in his perspective. I doubt that he would say kill them about prostitutes, drunks, child abusers, etc….By what authority he would speak such hate
is chilling if not insane.

“Sixty days have now come and gone since Pulpit Freedom Sunday 2011. That day is when 539 pastors from across the United States stood in their pulpits and proclaimed biblical truth about candidates and elections. The participating pastors recorded their sermons and sent them to the IRS in the hopes of generating a legal challenge to overturn the Johnson Amendment.
As of the time I write this blog, the IRS has not responded in any way to any of the pastors who participated in Pulpit Freedom Sunday. In fact, pastors have been participating in Pulpit Freedom Sunday since 2008 but no pastor has ever been punished or censored by the IRS for a Pulpit Freedom Sunday sermon.”
In addition, please read the author’s other articles. (Note, the writer and site are on the side of the church but they are very good at what they do.)
There are some very interesting assertions.
1. To name one, are religions’ free-speech rights being violated even though they accepted tax-free status and accepted such a limitation?
2. Can this acceptance even be legal? As in, is the contract itself, ie. getting tax-exempt status and “giving away” one’s rights, a violation of the Constitution?
3. Can one give away their rights? Can any contract that stipulates such an action even be legal? Or constitutional?

Douchebag Freedom Day has been going on for years now. They literally sent the videotapes to the IRS. No one has ever been convicted of anything. And only one has been investigated.
They like the corps, own the place.
America is changing. And although many here (and elsewhere) may disagree and think that ChurchCo. should not be allowed to support electioneering, … how many of you actually think the facts, the bare un-adultured truth of the way America is right now, can be denied. Religions are actively involved in politics and the control of power. Since the 80s and before. That’s just a fact.
They won. The IRS refuses to investigate, much less convict, any of them. Even with evidence, sent by the priests themselves.
The law? They are the law. They don’t have to follow it. They don’t. They are not even inconvenienced by an investigation. No federal or state investigations. They own them both.
Note, the above links provide useful information as to the direction America is headed. That’s all. Maybe learning from it and preparing for what America is becoming is not such a bad idea. Can any of us still be in denial about the path that we are taking? And how’s that working out for us?
It’s time to dig in folks. Has been for some time. Dig in like an Alabama tick. Save. Even the pennies, save them. See a penny on the ground, pick it up. You will need it. We all will.
Their rules. Their “law”. Their country.
Huh…. my copy of the King James Bible says, “Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.” And a lengthy passage about how Jesus was giving us a new law, which was supposed to replace all the old laws, and it was simply this: “Love thy neighbor as thyself.”
On another note, I have a feeling Pastor Worley thinks about kissing men all the time. Like every waking moment of every day.
Terrible! I bet these people also attest to their piety by the handling of large, north american pit vipers!
It’s a shame when normal, everyday americans do things like this.
How fortunate we are to have Pam to dig them up and rant about them, a few days after Barack Obama courageously told everyone that equality for Gay people is a matter for “states rights”.
I’m so glad she’s keeping track of the relative importance of people who think the earth is flat, versus the president of the United States, who is TOTALLY undeserving of any criticism for waiting 3 and a half years into his presidency to “come out” , and THEN, only after Gay people and progressives get the living shit out of them in a vote on a state amendment.
Why, you could even say that her courage and perception mirrors that of our brave preznint.
)
My sister in law just reminded me that this man is engaging in a proposal for systematic extermination of a minority identical to the one once planned in the Wannsee suburb of Berlin. It was called “Final Solution”
This was just a movie…right???
Don’t you just love the south. I bet this guy is married to his cousin.
Much of the Bible may have been inspired by God, but it was written
by MEN–and many of them were hampered by the ignorance and prejudices of their time. I think that Jesus, as he is portrayed in the New Testament, would be APPALLED by the vicious hatred being spewed in his name.
Years ago,in the late 60′s, we began to make some progress in providing full civil rights to African-Americans when many people in the U.S. got an up-close-and-scary view of police dogs and fire hoses being turned on their fellow Americans throughout the South.
And that is the only good thing about this horrific footage: most Americans, being fair and generous people, would find Pastor Worley’s words and homicidal “solutions” absolutely disgusting.
May God have mercy on his twisted soul.
Prove it! Until then, shut up about the damn book
Could you please mention what data you’re using regarding homosexual slaves being singled out for abuse? I’ve never encountered any evidence on that specific subject and in fact just searched around multiple databases extensively. Also, there was no notion of “gay identity” at all until the late 1800s.
X2. And Man created God.
Well hell why stop with the queers and lesbians. Put all the mentally ill, physically handicapped, blacks, jews, convicts and any other person who they deem societally unfit into his concentration camps and kill them all…oh wait someone already did that. Boy was that popular. This man would have done well as a NAZI.
