The North Carolina NAACP is the only chapter aside from California’s that has come out forcefully against an anti-gay marriage discrimination amendment, and Rev. Dr. William Barber makes it crystal clear why voters in NC need to come out and vote against Amendment One.
No matter our color. No matter our faith tradition. Those who stand for love and justice are not about to fall for their trick. No matter how you feel personally about same sex marriage, no one, especially those of us whose forebears were denied constitutional protections, should ever want to pass a constitutional amendment restricting rights of a minority. It sets a precedent for future discriminatory amendments that could impact the rights of even more minorities.
Here are two radio ads running now through primary day on May 8:

I am voting against Amendment 1. I have lived in NC since 1994, moved down from the North. Cannot stand that my adopted state is so into moving us into the 50′s. I remember when my daughter and her boyfriend were looking into getting a place together. Turned down because they were not married. I was really hoping that NC became better than that. The religious right has tried to taker over this amendment, but am hoping that intelligence prevails.
