Honest to god, I don’t see how this video will change anyone’s mind to support the amendment. The ignorance and lack of understanding of these poor people re: church/state separation is proof that these ads are only about turning out the base.

All across the state, we are finding North Carolinians mobilizing in defense of marriage. Just the other week, thousands gathered on the lawn of the capital to voice their support of the Marriage Protection Amendment. Hear from some of them in their own words.

One person who does know about the separation of church and state is Attorney General Roy Cooper, and he has come out against the Amendment, citing the legal mess it will create:

I am writing you today to let you know I am voting against Amendment One in next month’s primary elections on May 8th. I believe it is unclear, unwise and unnecessary. Amending our constitution demands careful deliberation along with precise language – both are missing here. ¬†Amendment One’s lack of clarity will also result in a significant amount of litigation on many issues which will be decided by courts for years to come. This should be avoided. Thank you for the opportunity to serve as your Attorney General and letting me share my thoughts with you about this issue.
