There should also be a study done of how NOM perverts its relationships with Jewish extremists into messages claiming that NOM represents typical American Jews (who in their great majority favor LGBT equality). Even many Orthodox Jews favor LGBT equality; the Democratic David Weprin, for example, against whom NOM fought in a Congressional race, is Orthodox and supports LGBT equality. NOM deals with deluded, crazed extremist gay-bashing Jews who appear oblivious that NOM’s leadership believes they will go to hell if they don’t accept Jesus. NOM also is allied with Holocaust denier Scott Lively, who published a thoroughly discredited book claiming that the entire Third Reich existed to further gay rights, or some such absurd proposition. One of NOM’s gay-bashing allies, the totally loony rabbi Yehuda Levin, loves Scott Lively’s book, even though it is contradicted by all serious scholarship of the Holocaust era. The handful of jerky Jews that go along with NOM’s bigotry in no way represent typical Jewish thought in America today regarding gay human beings, yet NOM will boast of its alliances with Jews, and also speak about LGBT equality as though it were an assault on Jewishness, which it absolutely is not.
It most definitely has got some people posting disruptive comments on gay blogs.
Paying bloggers to promote your message – where have I heard that before? Oh, yeah, didn’t the Bush administration get caught for exactly doing that, and wasn’t Maggie Gallagher one of the writers who got the payments? I think George B. might be mad that NOM credits a different George with that innovation in PR bullsh*t.
Although I find far more offensive NOM’s strategy to find and promote kids of gays and lesbians who would spill the beans on how horrible life with a queer parent is. Never mind creating wedges between political groups, NOM was trying to drive a wedge between family members – how classy. I guess we should also feel sorry for them though, as they seemingly haven’t been able to find anyone.
Are they not smart to enough to just find some bored white bigots and have them pretend to be black?
