[Rep. Bob Morris, R-Fort Wayne] said he did some Web-based research and found allegations that the Girl Scouts are a tactical arm of Planned Parenthood, that they allow transgender females to join, “just like any real girl,” and encourage sex.
~Fort Wayne Journal Gazette‘s City rep chides colleagues for honoring ‘radicalized’ group
Indiana State Rep. Bob Morris (R-Fort Wayne) is against honoring the Girl Scouts on their 100th anniversary. From a letter he sent to the Republican Caucus of his statehouse, here’s why:
Dear Fellow Representatives:
This past week I was asked to sign a House Resolution recognizing the 100th Anniversary of Girl Scouts of America. After talking to some well-informed constituents, I did a small amount of web-based research, and what I found is disturbing. The Girl Scouts of America and their worldwide partner, World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS), have entered into a close strategic affiliation with Planned Parenthood.
You will not find evidence of this on the GSA/WAGGGS website—in fact, the websites of these two organizations explicitly deny funding Planned Parenthood.
Nonetheless, abundant evidence proves that the agenda of Planned Parenthood includes sexualizing young girls through the Girl Scouts, which is quickly becoming a tactical arm of Planned Parenthood. Planned Parenthood instructional series and pamphlets are part of the core curriculum at GSA training seminars. Denver Auxiliary Bishop James D. Conley of Denver last year warned parents that “membership in the Girl Scouts could carry the danger of making their daughters more receptive to the pro-abortion agenda.”
A Girl Scouts of America training program last year used the Planned Parenthood sex education pamphlet “Happy, Healthy, and Hot.” The pamphlet instructs young girls not to think of sex as “just about vaginal or anal intercourse.” “There is no right or wrong way to have sex. Just have fun, explore and be yourself!” it states. Although individual Girl Scout troops are not forced to follow this curriculum, many do. Liberal progressive troop-leaders will indoctrinate the girls in their troop according to the principles of Planned Parenthood, making Bishop Conley’s warning true.
Many parents are abandoning the Girl Scouts because they promote homosexual lifestyles. In fact, the Girl Scouts education seminar girls are directed to study the example of role models. Of the fifty role models listed, only three have a briefly-mentioned religious background—all the rest are feminists, lesbians, or Communists. World Net Daily, in a May 2009 article, states that Girl Scout Troops are no longer allowed to pray or sing traditional Christmas Carols. Boys who decide to claim a “transgender” or cross-dressing life-style are permitted to become a member of a Girl Scout troop, performing crafts with the girls and participate in overnight and camping activities — just like any real girl. The fact that the Honorary President of Girl Scouts of America is Michelle Obama, and the Obama’s are radically pro-abortion and vigorously support the agenda of Planned Parenthood, should give each of us reason to pause before our individual or collective endorsement of the organization.
As members of the Indiana House of Representatives, we must be wise before we use the credibility and respect of the “Peoples’ House” to extend legitimacy to a radicalized organization. The Girl Scouts of America stand in a strong tradition that reflects with fidelity the traditional values of our homes and our families. The tradition extends from coast-to-coast and back through the past one hundred years. That said, I challenge each of you to examine these matters more closely before you extend your name and your reputation to endorse a group that has been subverted in the name of liberal progressive politics and the destruction of traditional American family values.
I have two daughters who have been active in the Girl Scouts of Limberlost Council in Northeastern Indiana. Now that I am aware of the influence of Planned Parenthood within GSA and other surprisingly radical policies of GSA, my two daughters will instead become active in American Heritage Girls Little Flowers organization. In this traditional group they will learn about values and principles that will not confuse their conservative Hoosier upbringing.
I have been told that, as of today, I am the only member not supporting the Girl Scout Resolution. I challenge each of you to examine these matters and to decide carefully whether or not to sign the resolution.
Respectfully,
Bob Morris
Well, it’s certainly an interesting read, isn’t it?
And on the transgender component of his letter? Well, I’ve bought seven boxes of cookies this month to support the Girl Scouts, and thanked those that I bought cookies from for their organization’s acceptance of trans girls in their membership.

Their cookies are over-priced and the majority of the money goes to the cookie company. I just give them cash and tell the young women I don’t want any cookies.
As to the controversy about GSA accepting this that or another type of child into the local club I couldn’t care less. In my humble opinion that is something best left to each local unit. What works on one block doesn’t necessarily work 3 blocks away.
This is a pretty sad statement of life in this country when the Girl Scouts, the Girl Scouts!, become a political target. Yesterday a church in Virgina told them they couldn’t hold meetings in the church facilities anymore. This is insane.
Can’t we just give him a rope and a stool and point him toward a good tree?
I would much rather a child of mine be involved in the Girl Scouts than in the Republican Party.
I feel sorry for his daughters, making new friends after being jerked away from old friends is not easy at that age.
Boxturtle (GOPers were never above using a child to make a point)
One of these days, churches like that are going to realize that all the people they’ve banned are now politicians and business leaders. And they don’t like that church or churches in general.
Boxturtle (LOTS of money could come from repealing the church tax exemption for political congregations)
Several responses come to mind: Bewilderment? Astonishment? Is “flabbergastion” a word? What fruitcake did this guy jump out of, and who in their right mind (do they have minds in Indiana?)elected him? Perhaps a bigger question is, WHY did anyone elect him? He is a stand-alone monument to ignornant, chauvinist bigotry. He gives stupid people a bad name.
Seriously? American Heritage Girls Little Flowers: keep them barefoot and pregnant society? Beam me up, Scotty.
Not so fast! I’m in the process of turning my humble abode into a “church” so I can get a much-needed tax break.
I bought an extra box this year, and told the team of Girl Scouts and Scout Leaders that it was because their organization was inclusive. Of course, that’s just my first order of the year. I’m sure I’ll buy more before it’s all over.
This dude needs to get a life. Attacking Girl Scouts? Pick on somebody your own size, buster.
The Church of the Flying Spagetti Monster is still not recognized, so no deduction for you anyway!
Boxturtle (My dogs worship me. Does that make my home a church?)
The last time I met a group of girl scouts, they attacked me with cuteness and left me standing there moneyless with my pockets full of cookies.
Boxturtle (I’ve heard they’ll beat you up if you don’t have enough for 3 boxes)
I love how the letter starts by saying “We have no evidence…” and then says “We have abundant evidence…” that the GSA is somehow connected to PP through some mysterious, unexplained linkage. Funny how the guy never explains exactly how he “knows” all this. Oh, wait a sec, that’s right “Internet research.” Yeah, that explains it!
Never heard of the word “flabbergastation.” I’ve heard the phrase “I was flabbergasted to hear…”
The voices in his head have a Ph.D. in sociology.
Why don’t all these idiots just get it over with and go join the Taliban? I can see no difference between them except the name of their God.
I’ll say it because it can’t be said enough ” In your guts you know they’re nuts !”
My question is how could this moron get elected in the first place?
It’s a sad commentary on the people of this country that this boob could be elected.
Excerpt from the letter and the GS Pamphlet: “A Girl Scouts of America training program last year used the Planned Parenthood sex education pamphlet “Happy, Healthy, and Hot.” The pamphlet instructs young girls not to think of sex as “just about vaginal or anal intercourse.” “There is no right or wrong way to have sex. Just have fun, explore and be yourself!” it states.

Well……I can’t add anything to that.
But seriously, this is almost as insane and moronic as the trans-vaginal ultrasound in Virginia. Where does the republican party keep coming up with such galactically stupid individuals who make such galactically stupid statements. These truly dastardaly, despicable, black-hearted bastards that ARE todays republican party just have to stick the friggin’ noses in everybody’s business
IN the afterlife, they better hope that God is not a woman.
Just checked the Planned Parenthood website and could not find the brochure. But I did find the brochure pdf on a Conservative anti Girl Scout PP website. I also read an article about the “myth” of the brochure being use by Girl Scouts…wish the Rep would have done his homework.
The lack of facts has never stopped the republcans from making a point. If they don’t have any facts (factual facts) they’ll make some up. I’d give you some examples but it would take too long. But let;s not forget one:
“93% of PLanned Parenthood money goes to support abortions”.
Sen John Kyl, (R), Arizona.
So happens that was a tad inacurate.
You just need a “symbol” or a “logo”.
If I may….. a dog buscuit wrapped in a scroll. OR an abstract of Timmy and Lassie.
You’re welcome
I think that Bob Morris should look into the pageant business for toddlers. Talk about sexualizing young girls. I guess he has never seen “Toddlers and Tiaras”. I would call this program child abuse but that is just me.
Hey Rick,
Please stay away from violent or suicide imagery in disagreeing with Rep. Morris. We have enough violence being directed to LGBT community, and a suicide attempt rate of 41% in trans community.
Expressing a wish for violence towards others, or expressing a hope others outside community commit suicide, seems a wrong way to address the hate in others direct at us because of sexual orientation, gender identity, and/or gender expression. We can’t drive out darkness with more darkness; we can only drive out darkness with light.
He was actually selected by the Republican party(41 committee persons) in his District to replace the Republican who had served 10 years, but was leaving before his term was up. This meant there was no Republican primary he had to go through. Since the district is very heavily Republican, his selection was all that was needed to get him into office, and he only served a couple months before the general election, so not enough time to see the crazy.
In a primary, most Democratic Party people would probably vote in the Republican primary in this area, as even on the US congressional level it is heavily Republican. It’s unlikely he would have won an actual primary.
The WAR, Inc against women and girls continues apace.
I would say: so much stupid, so little time. Sadly far too many conservative voters have been brainwashed/manipulated/bamboozled into believing bald-faced unfactual LIES like this, and, like Pavlov’s dogs, to get reliably ginned up over ??? nothing.
This is another salvo against Planned Parenthood, sadly using the Girl Scouts as the thin edge of the wedge.
Just to be factual, there is more evidence of child sexual abuse (eg pederasty) in the Boy Scouts (not that I’m advocating doing away with the Boy Scout program), but I sure don’t see this whore for the 1% saying dick-squat about that.
Stop making sense, Mary!
The whole
kiddie pornchild beauty pageant industry makes boatload$ of sweet sweet ca$h for some rich shits. So no way, no how is a TOOL like Morris going to open that pandora’s box. His 1% pay-masters wouldn’t “approve.”I can honestly say from living in Indiana my whole life that the statehouse has such an over-abundance of nuts that Indianapolis has a consent squirrel infestation problem. What else could be expected from a state led by Mitch Daniels.
American Conservatism=Christian Fascism
I bought two boxes of cookies on Saturday. I told the leader I handed the money to that she could thank Planned Parenthood for this sale.
She didn’t have the faintest clue what I was talking about.

Dude……..I’m from TEXAS. Don’t even begin to think Indiana can match us nut-for-nut or moron-for-moron.
WE only bow down to Illinois which has more convicted political felons than we have. BUt tha’t sonlyh because we don;t catch most of them.
Boxturtle (LOTS of money could come from repealing the church tax exemption for political congregations)
You are soooo right. It is way past time to reverse the tax-free status of churches.
I don’t think there is a politician alive who would touch that issue though…
Boarder-line inappropriate…

onitgoes,
There has been, for some time, a rule in Boy Scouts that an adult may not be alone with a scout. There must be at least two adults with one scout or two scouts with one adult. This hasn’t stopped the pedophile problem, but has certainly slowed it. In my troop, every potential scout leader must go through anti-pedophile training and go through a background check and fingerprinting on a yearly basis.
BUT, they still don’t let known homosexuals or non-believers in God become scouts or scout leaders.
