Great Caesar’s Ghost! My hypocrisy meter has just blown the F up. From the Iowa Caucuses blog (I know you’ve protected your keyboards, right?):
“I believe that marriage is between a man and woman,” Gingrich said. “It has been for all of recorded history and I think this is a temporary aberration that will dissipate. I think that it is just fundamentally goes against everything we know.”
Gingrich made the statement in response to a question from the audience during an event he held at a Best Western hotel conference room.
He’s managed to rack up three marriages to my one without any infidelities, so I’ll cede that he’s an expert on temporary, throwaway relationships. Maybe Newt’s trying to take attention away from this little incident: Newt Gingrich Snaps At Reporter Over 2012 Fundraising Question:
Los Angeles Times reporter Seema Mehta asked Gingrich how his fundraising numbers were shaping up as the quarter ends Sept. 30. “See, I knew you couldn’t resist. I’m not going to answer you,” he saidafter releasing his “21st Century Contract With America.”
“You should really go home and think about why you would even ask that today,” he said.
His 527 fundraising group formed in 2007, American Solutions, closed its K Street doors in August.
Embarrassing revelations about having a six-figure revolving account at Tiffany’s and taking a cruise with his wife to the Greek islands in late May have contributed to the perception of Gingrich as unserious and a spendthrift. Since then, he haseschewed private planes for commercial flights.

I’ve gotten at least 4 emails from campaigns today asking donors to help meet fundraising goals for the quarter that ends today, so Gingrich must be the only pol NOT talking about the quarterly numbers.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
Oh, sorry. Just busting a gut over this absurdity.
This is Newt ”hey my soon-to-be-ex-wife, would ya sign these divorce papers right now, while you’re bedridden for cancer treatment” Gingrich we’re talking about?
Such respect for the institution…
Just like your first two marriages were “temporary aberrations,” right, Newt?
And just like your third one MIGHT be. Got your paperwork in order, Callista?
Gee, I wonder if gay marriage will turn out to be as temporary as Newt’s presidential campaign. Ya think?
