Here’s the text of a super-kewl, notarized letter I received in the mail on Saturday afternoon (birthdate redacted): 
GENDER TRANSITION AND CHANGE
RE: Autumn V. Sandeen
DOB: XX-XX-XXXXI declare under penalty of perjury under the laws of the United States that the forgoing is true and correct:
I am the attending physician and have an established relationship with Autumn V. Sandeen. She has had appropriate surgical treatment and has completed her transition to be female.

Isn’t that just the ginchiest letter? 
Well, if you received such a letter in the mail, it might not set you off o’ dancing — but let me just say when I received my letter in the mail with that text, it sure as heck made my weekend!

It’s great California allows gender marker changes on documents with an orchi.
Where I’m from (Oklahoma), not so much.

Autumn, many congrats and salutations from this FtM former SF resident. I remember how it felt to get the court-ordered sex change officially and everything before I left SF for Phoenix.
The Transgender Law Center did my whole court stuff (well, I had already changed my name previously in court on my own) and it was a little dicey ’cause I had to use my WI birth cert and there was no clear (at that time) decisions about what to do with out of state ppl whose birth state is willing to change the BC with a court order, but you don’t know if you can get the court order of sex change in CA if you were born in a different state… Anyway, it worked and I hope other ppl continue to have an easier time as I certainly and luckily did. Good City, good judge, good representation.
