Via People for the American Way’s Right Wing Watch, a reminder that a mind is a terrible thing to waste. Witness fundies Cindy and Mike Jacobs…
In this clip, Mike explains that we are now seeing natural disasters of biblical proportions “is because sin has reached biblical proportions” while Cindy explains that, as Christians, they are not subject to these disasters and can, in fact, take authority over the weather “if we know what to do”:

In my experience (happily limited) the average fundamentalist Christian has trouble controlling his or her own shoelaces, much less the weather. Besides–the fundies have been claiming for years that it is us LGBT folks who cause hurricanes, earthquakes, tornadoes and what not. Which is it?
Is it so much to ask that we go through a natural disaster without having to point out how much God’s aim sucks?
In his book “The Stuff They Wouldn’t Print“, KC Star cartoonist Lee Judge has a cartoon with the word “Remember . . .” in large print at the top. Below it are three panels, each with a figure, and the captions with each of the three panels read:
(1) When homosexuals get AIDS, it’s punishment from God.
(2) When the sexually active get herpes, it’s punishment from God.
(3) And when John Ashcroft gets gallstone pancreatitis, it’s gallstone pancreatitis.
In the book, Lee adds a footnote: “Clearly, God only uses illness to punish liberals.”
Is that a Ouija board in front of him?
I have read somewhere on the blogs that the predominatly gay sections of New Orleans were some of the least damaged during Katrina. Bad aim, or….:)?
God historically seems to unleash the most upon conservative regions of the country.
How much in the way of a donation is requested for this valuable advice? (…in addition, that is, to what you surrender of your gray matter.)
