I don’t know where to begin, other than to ask how does he know this? (Wisconsin Gazette):
Before sentencing a former school bus driver to prison for molesting young boys, the judge ridiculed the defendant for claiming to be a heterosexual.“I think you were born gayer than a sweet smelling jock strap,” Judge Philip Kirk of Waupaca told Delton Gorges, 71, before sending him to prison for seven years on counts of sexual assault of a child, repeated sexual assault of a child and two misdemeanor counts of fourth-degree sexual assault. Gorges will serve 15 years of extended supervision after his prison release.
…”No one knew there was a closet to come out of in those days,” the judge said. “You know you had to be very careful, because you could have found your penis floating in the Wolf as walleye bait. It was a terrible life to have to live.”

Sometimes an appeal writes itselfNot commenting on the presumed guilt or innocence of the defendant, but remarks like these are like chum for defense attorneys looking to prove bias and discrimination.
BefuddledThat’s the only word I can think of to describe the judge’s rambling. If the defendant was found guilty, as he obviously was, the judge just didn’t need to go there during the sentencing. As Technowitch states, it’s bait for attornies looking to prove bias and discrimination.
The judge’s sentencing statement was also about three minutes too long.
And he apparently doesn’t knowthat most pedophiles are, in fact, heterosexual. Bad judicial behavior, on so many levels.
Is that judicial recognition that being gay is something you’re born with? I hatethe whole homo=pedo is one and the same mentality obviously.
But a sitting judge just said you’re born gay. There should be a positive in there somewhere

It’s usually not a one-off thingwhen state judges make these wildly inappropriate pronouncements from the bench. Just going on a hunch, I’d say this fellow has brightened his courtroom in the past with odd thoughts about, say, rape victims or defendants of lower economic strata.
Some reporter needs to do some digging. Some member of the legal profession needs to file a complaint with the relevant disciplinary committee.
What’s the problem?An actual pedophile does in fact have preferences and for the most part won’t deviate out of those parameters. Some like little boys and some like little girls. Not sure it even falls under the classification of gay or straight at all, it’s strictly pedophilia. However it’s quite possible the man was hetero and just abused the kids for the power not the sex. However, a judge saying such a thing, in a courtroom while being videotaped, recorded and witnessed is just downright hilarious. Opinions are awesome.
