OK, with all of the LGBT youth suicides, what piece of sh*t would say something like that?
Clint McCance of the Midland School District Board in Arkansas. This is the kind of father who creates a bullying child. (Change.org):
McCance took to his Facebook page last week, to blast what became known as Spirit Day, a day where all around the country, people wore the color purple to remember those LGBT students who were victims of bullying or suicide. For McCance, this was nothing more than a day of honoring “sin.”“Seriously they want me to wear purple because five queers committed suicide. The only way I’m wearin’ it for them is if they all commit suicide,” McCance said, in one of the most ugly outbursts in recent memory. “I can’t believe the people of this world have gotten this stupid. We are honoring the fact that they sinned and killed themselves because of their sin.”
“Being a fag doesn’t give you the right to ruin the rest of our lives. If you get easily offended by being called a fag then don’t tell anyone you are a fag. Keep that shit to yourself,” McCance wrote. “It pisses me off though that we make a special purple fag day for them. I like that fags cant procreate. I also enjoy the fact that they often give each other aids and die.”
Let’s repeat this once again: this is a school board member. Someone charged with upholding the Midland School District’s mission of “making a difference” in the lives of students. And his reaction to the recent spate of anti-gay bullying and LGBT students who have committed suicide in the news? To release a diatribe so vile, it makes the Westboro Baptist Church look like Miss Manners.
You can let the Midland School District politely know that a school board member — a community leader — cannot be excused for this language. There is a acebook page calling for McCance to be fired.

I would imagineThat this guy’s days on the school board are numbered, beginning with a very low number. At least I hope so.
Is anyone else wondering?“Being a fag doesn’t give you the right to ruin the rest of our lives. If you get easily offended by being called a fag then don’t tell anyone you are a fag. Keep that shit to yourself”
It seems like a really strong reaction to something that most straight people (who don’t think that they have a direct dial connection with the Almighty) don’t get angry about. I don’t know if he’s sanctimonious or self loathing, but he is a major jerk who should be removed from any position of power that involves kids.
Why didn’t he just say:“The only good faggot is a dead faggot,” and leave it at that?
I’d say he ought to be required to listen to all the parents of the dead kids. Except he’d probably laugh at them.
“Being a fag doesn’t give you the right to ruin the rest of our lives.”But being a Christian, apparently, does. Being a Christian gives you the right to laugh at the deaths of children, and to crow exultantly about them. Being a Christian gives you the right to enact laws trampling on the rights and dignity of every human being on the planet who disagrees with your superstitions. Being a christian gives you the right to pollute everything decent with your vicious pig-ignorance.
If it wouldn’t be such an atrocious blot on their memory, I’d suggest that we take the bodies of all the dead LGBT kids and dump them on McChance’s front lawn. We would, after all, be following the orders of Jesus Christ:
See? Jesus don’t want us buryin’ dead folks none. Let’s all get likkered up and do what Jesus said.
Gentlemen of Midland, Consider yourselves placed upon noticeWhereas a Director of your incorporated governmental unit has advocated for the death of LGBT students and whereas the deaths of LGBT students under dire circumstances as the result of policy and/or neglect by the directors and administrators of the responsible incorporated governmental units/school districts are a matter of public record and national concern, I hereby serve notice that any acts of violence against LGBT students or any action against LGBT students that result causally in self destructive acts shall be considered by myself and nearly every other litigator in the United States as the result of policy, desire and intent enunciated by one of the policy making directors of said incorporated governmental unit known as the Midland School District and that liabilities of a financial nature, both remunerative and punative, are perforce substantially higher under USCA standards and applicable Federal case law, with a “Hate Crimes” modifier also attaching in terms of possible criminal remedies.
In other words, if anything happens to another LGBT student at Midland, you are all soooooooooo screwed.
Brava!
Consider the source…Someone from Arkansas. The most stupid, inbred HICK people in the country. The STUPIDEST state in the South, and that’s saying something. I thank the Goddess every day that my grandparents had the intelligence to GET OUT of that piece of s*it masquerading as a state during the Depression. They came to California, which has it’s problems, I know-but I’d rather live HERE than Arkansas.
arkansasyup, theres DUMB,. and then theres clint mcchance,,,only in a backward, totally red neck state, could this guy get on a a school board…its a SHAME, an i thought florida was baaaad, OMG
Wow.This guy needs some serious fucking therapy.
someone should mention this to the SPLCSouthern Poverty Law Center has produced “Bullied” curricula and materials, free, for school districts needing them.
http://www.splcenter.org/get-i…
And they might take a strong interest in this case.
Also on point in that the case “Bullied” references, that of Jamie Nabozny, also used 42 USC § 1983, a statute very on point here. The district is sooo liable if a victim can allege proximate cause.
Any case against Midland would be even strongersince an effective argument could be made that the conditions prevailing that resulted in(insert tortious outcome) were the direct result of a discriminatory policy aimed at producing precisely such an outcome, as demonstrated by the statements of one of the directors of the policy making board.
Do you think this falls under the new anti bullying guidelines sent out by the Dept of HSH today?
He also said…“I would disown my kids if they were gay. They will not be welcome at my home or in my vicinity. I will absolutely run them off. Of course my kids will know better.”
Not only litigators, but child protective services investigators need to be watching this guy and all his interactions with all children.
Dear President ObamaYour continued government sanctioned discrimination gives way to this crap.
Put an end to
DADT (Don’t ask, don’t tell)
DOMA (Defense of marriage act)
and PASS
ENDA (Employment non-discrimination act)
UAFA (Uniting American families act)
SNDA (Student non-discrimination act)
Because pretty words will never be enough.
Equal means Equal, and justice delayed is justice denied.
+1 Insightful
Another Black Eye For ArkansasWhat has happened in Arkansas the past 16 years? 16 years ago, we had a President whom was an Arkie native (this isn’t excusing his conservative actions), an NCAA DI men’s basketball champion, two center-left US Senators and things were looking up. Today, we are saddled with two DINO senators (soon to be a GOP’er), Marriage Equality being banned in the state constitution, and even the damn majority of voters approving a law banning unmarried couples from being foster or adoptive parents. Oh and that same basketball team is in its worse era since the late 1960′s.
When Arkansas public officals choose to play down and try to mime the worst aspects of Oklahoma, Texas, and Mississippi it speaks volumes about this state’s ability to attract industry and other employment venues. Arkansas still has a large number of rural school districts whom is often more concerned with the fortunes of the football team, than the welfare and academic achievement of all its students.
I will likely not leave, party because I have no children. However if I did, I may feel differently. Its those like myself and the next generation of Arkansans that must stand up to the bigots and become leaders whom will set the tone for tolerance rather than fan the flames of hatred.
How are you better?I am an educated woman from Arkansas and completely condemn McCance’s behaviour. Your words are condemning a group of people that you do not know. YOU are now sounding like a hateful hick. Again, how are your hateful words any different from McCance’s?
Maybe because he’s notcalling for anyone’s DEATH?
The irony of condemning bigotrywhile engaging in same is probably lost on you.
I’m fairly sureThat even if the McCance’s vitriol towards gay hadn’t gotten to the point of calling for their deaths, most people here would still be condemning it.
Well Said!!from another Arkie.
Uhm wowHow are you any better by spouting this stuff about Arkansas?
Please let it be known that we do have educated people in this state and not everyone is a hick.
Arkansas is NOTa totally redneck state.
We have our issues, as does every state, but please don’t judge the state of Arkansas based on the actions of a few.
I’ll stay as long as I can stomach itI’m not having kids but even then, I have to think about my own mental health.
That’s goodBecause someone like that probably cannot count past the number 9 (the number of his fingers minus the one picking his nose.)
Let’s not forget…Bill Clinton’s from Arkansas, and HE’S a Rhodes Scholar!
Not, I think/hope for long.
Even in Arkansas, I can’t fathom that this school district has the stomach for the prolonged bout of lightning strikes this PR lightning rod is going to bring them.
Not like every stateHaving grown up in a neighboring state, let me say that southern states are NOT just like every state when it comes to having issues with gays. They categorically different and much worse!
Pretty wordsThat’s all Obama has. That’s all he’s ever had. Pretty words.
Obama never had morethan pretty words to give us. He never will. Perhaps some kind of “Dump Obama for Kukinich” effort, perhaps?
Not to mentionHow often it is just sadly predictable that someone spouting this kind of stuff in public has his own moral skeleton in the closet. Whether it’s affairs, child abuse, embezzling, or spousal abuse, it just sends up the red flag that he’s playing “Over there! Look over there! Nothing to see here!”
They don’t need to keep an eye on him to prevent him from doing something evil. They need to dig into it and see what evil he’s already doing. It’s there.
I wonder how long it will bebefore Tony Perkins, Daddy D, Bam Bam or some other “christian” leader starts crying “christian persecution”?
You can say thought that EVERYstate has its anti-gay issues.
Heck, even in CA there are anti-gay hate crimes and you can’t ignore prop 8.
I know it makes you feel good to pick on Arkansas and make it sound like it is just THE worst state for gays but it isn’t. I know it’s not one of the best by a long shot but seriously, all these hyperbolic statements about Arkansas are getting a bit old.
We get it, you don’t like Arkansas. Find another tree to pee on please.
Excuse me, you can say, though*, that EVERY
If that is the case, how does such a personget on a school board? If the majority weren’t bigoted hicks, they wouldn’t have put him in that position of power.
None of the “christians” have a persecuted leg to stand onUntil I see evidence that the athiests of this country have gotten political power and are throwing christians in jail just for their religion, I say that christian persecution is bullshit.
Wouldn’t it be wonderfulto see SPLC list this school district as a hate group? I know it won’t happen, but the mere thought warms the cocktails of my heart.
We need a constitutional amendmentto ban Christians from marrying–and reproducing their kind. We need to oppose any measure t regard religions as a protected class. We need to bully their kids. Every one of us who has Christian employees needs to fire them all summarily, regardless of their job performance. Let the bastards find out what real persecution feels like.
Oh wait–we aren’t doing any of that, and we aren’t likely to. Let them get down on their knees and thank their invisible friend that we aren’t as vindictive as they are.
It is BSThey claim this is a “Christian Nation” and the majority of Americans are “christians”
If that’s really the case I’d like to ask them…
How can a majority be persecuted?
Well yeah…But they don’t see it that way. They get boners from the thought of being a martyr and almost sound like they want to get nailed to a cross. The irony that I see is that we see this as them being assholes, they see it as being good christians. They aren’t being told to shut up because they are following religious principles, they are being told that acting like a six year old jerk is unacceptable. They are the ones who are doing harm to how people perceive their faith, not the evil atheists.
Listen, Arkansas gave us Bill Clinton.California gave us Nixon and Reagan. I’d take Arkansas in that case…

I just saw another commenter re-name the collective red states as dumbcrackerfuckistan. Had to share.
A majority *can* be persecuted. It’s quite possible for a majority to be persecuted — think South Africa under apartheid.
Christians in the U.S., though, who have held the majority of all branches of government for 200+ years? Not so persecuted.

Good News / Bad NewsHe’s up for re-election. That’s the good news.
The bad news is that he’s unopposed.
None of whom have any power over himHe’s elected by the voters, and cannot be removed unless convicted of a felony, or because of absenteeism.
The only way of getting rid of him is to vote him out. This will be difficult, as he’s running unopposed.
He’s elected, not appointedAnd running unopposed in this election.
And he’ll remain thereHe’s running unopposed in this election. His views reflect “solid christian values” after all.
Yes, but he left Arkansas and widened his horizonshe didn’t stay in the Ozarks and ‘FISH AND BREED’ like this fella did.
They may have the power of collective shunning If these folks truly believe what they say (and I’m not saying that they do) on the Midland County School website, then they will not interact with this man or his family any longer and ensure his failure. That’s the way society works.
He may have a “come to Jeebus” moment after that. One would hope.
