I received an email from the highly talented and entertaining David Pakman of Midweek Politics, who apparently has not yet earned the reputation of “do not return his calls” among the fundies, bigoted airheads, and crazies who take his questions on the air and proceed to make asses out of themselves to the rest of us. Peter LaBarbera is one of his “greatest hits.”
David wanted to share with Blenders his “best of” reel, called “Epic Anti-Gay Moments Highlight Reel…the Worst of the Worst.” Protect your keyboard, sit back and relax and prepare to laugh. Special guest appearance by Terry “Burn the Koran” Jones, Shirley Phelps-Roper, Paul Cameron and of course, The Peter.

I have to admire PakmanHow does he do this without just cutting these sickos off?
I couldn’t listen to the whole thing. I tried, but I just couldn’t. I’m sitting here desperately reminding myself that there is some good in everyone, but that deeply held belief is sorely challenged right now.
Did I just hear Paul Cameron admitthat gay sex is more fun than straight sex? I certainly agree with that, but I have to wonder how he knows.
David Pakman handles himself perfectly. And yes, it is galling, but not shocking to hear this kind of dialogue.
I think that we should hear more of it, because it only serves to make our case, that Religious Zealots and Psycho-Quacks (coining the term) are plainly hate-filled and without merit.
Americans for Truth about Heterosexualityinsert photos of Mardi Gras. Christian’s last hoorah before lent! OMG hetrosexual Christian woman flashing their boobs for beads. The horror!
that is our problem, in a nutshellor perhaps, “nutjob.”
the fact that decent people in the media (however few there are) are forced to accept crazy bigots as “legitimate” voices of the opposition is killing this country. there are very few people who would want foaming at the mouth haters over for dinner, let alone give them hours of major media market airtime. and yet. even “good” media voices are told and directed to make time for this hateful, poisonous discourse. and less informed, less political people are exposed to all that (and more informed, more politically aware people too) and eventually assume the position that to treat the bigots gently is is only “fair and balanced.”
i have hope, however. i can see the direction this country, despite all its other flaws, seems to be moving along in terms of gay rights. “he’s a faggot” is rapidly going the way of “he’s a nigger,” in terms of bigots being able to open an argument that way. which is to say, fewer and fewer americans will listen to anything that comes after that statement.
Agree 100%I understand why this particular host does what he does, but I am frustrated with the “mainstream media” giving time to these bigots.
