why. Why. WHy. WHY?????? Read and weep and laugh. (Change.org)
Looking for some cupcakes or cookies with rainbow frosting on them, to celebrate National Coming Out Day? Don’t head to Just Cookies in Indianapolis. The bakery, inside Indianapolis’ City Market, refused to accept an order from a gay student group at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI). Why?According to the man who owns the bakery, rainbow cupcakes and cookies celebrating LGBT pride violate the values of the bakery.
“I explained we’re a family-run business, we have two young, impressionable daughters and we thought maybe it was best not to do that,” said co-owner David Stockton to a local Fox television station. He then added that it’s his bakery’s decision to decide what is obscene. Apparently rainbow colors fall under that label. “We have our values, and you know, some things … for instance, if someone wants a cookie with an obscenity, well, we’re not going to do that.”
So rainbow sprinkles, which have been around for eternity, are part of the devil’s design to spread homosexuality?
Mike Signorile and I were IMing when this blew by on Hootsuite (where I monitor Tweets and FB feeds). The possibilities for discrimination are endless for this bakery:
* he only makes white cupcakes
* chocolate cupcakes represent affirmative action
* red velvet cupcakes are Native American, if you add cream cheese frosting, does that make it Jewish?
* what about mixed bundt cakes – is that miscegenation?
You get the idea. The whole thing is mind-numbingly dumb. My brain cells are dying just contemplating someone this bigoted and stupid.

Flying CupcakeI wanted to mention that the group was able to get the cupcakes from The Flying Cupcake. They have two locations in Indianapolis: 715 East Massachusetts Avenue &
5617 North Illinois Street. Everyone in the Indy area should stop by and support The Flying Cupcake.
There are rainbows and then there are God’s RainbowsChristian rainbows use a slightly different color set and order. I am not joking. Very often they’ll go out of their way to make sure any rainbows displayed do NOT even SUGGEST a GAY flag of any sort, dropping some colors and duplicating others and rearranging the order.
It’s truly amazing how much effort they’ll go through to rework and reframe something they claim was made by their Creator rather than accept it as offered…
Maybe I’m mind-numbingly cheap, but…..Although this bakery is run by idiots who deserve to not be in business, it probably would have been a lot less expensive to make the cupcakes themselves. A box of cake mix, some muffin tins and those paper inserts, frosting – mix or home-made, and a thing of sprinkles. Better yet, some frosting mix and some food coloring and have rainbow frosting on the cupcakes.
I’m leery of bakeries ever since one in the town where I lived was closed by the Health Department because they found cat turds in the flour barrel……
actuallyRed velvet cupcakes are probably not kosher if they use the same coloring agent as the red velvet cake, because (at least traditionally) that color was made from bugs. Just saying :0)
When I lived in a college dormI did not have access to muffin tins, and it wouldn’t have been economical for me to invest in a bunch of tins and six bottles of food coloring.
Definitely no chocolate cupcakes…after all, that’s the DEVIL’S food!
And only sell angel food cakes.
Poor kids!I bet this guy deprives his daughters of Skittles and Rainbow Nerds.
A friend of mine in Louisiana had opened his business in ’05,a hair salon, and he decided for his logo a pair of opened scissors with a rainbow behind it and clouds at the ends of the rainbow. The kind you see on a little girl’s toy, like ‘my pretty pony’ or something. It looked absolutely nothing like a gay pride rainbow.
A graphics lady (christian she well let him know) whom he was going to use told him that she was “offended” by the rainbow and that it was ‘”indecent” … indecent! wtf? Needless to say he used someone else, but Good Grief, what a dumb ass lady! We did have a good laugh over it.
Well, it’ll spread, doncha see?Everyone knows that gayness is a creeping disease. It spreads, like athlete’s foot. If we allow gay cupcakes today, next it’ll be gay wedding cakes.
Interview of the offended bakerThis story seems like a bad SNL skit. Here is an interview with the owner/baker:

(facepalm) People like this make me ashamed to admit I live in Indiana, and I wind up contemplating why it is….
that no one from my hometown or homestate ever gets any press unless they are going, “It sounded just like a freight train….” with their ass hanging out outside a trailer park, or doing something totally dumbassed like this.
gimme a break…If gays have the right to do all their homosexual stuff.. then this bakery owner too has the right to choose who to do business with… get over it….
So called liberals want to take others’ freedom to choose, freedom to like and freedom to dislike away ….
Welcome to Pam’s Doctor Paul! And of course, businesses also have the right to not serve blacks in your world, right?
This is a classic violation of the public accomidations provisions of the Civil Rights act which you opposed so fluently on Rachel Maddow’s show last Spring.
Glad to see that you are branching out and looking beyond Fox for your information.
Where do conservatives get the ideathat freedom of speech means freedom from being criticized?
don’t confuseSince when has opposing homosexuality been equivalent to racism? Black or white is the race, natural and humane…Homosexuality isn’t…
lets see when people like you would start campaign to support for sociopaths and their anti-social and anti-human crimes…
they claim they’re born that way…
Howis homosexuality anything like sociopathy?
Also, explain how something that exists in nature can be unnatural.
