Christine O’Donnell and her interesting take on human sexuality and morality clearly was going to come back to haunt her, but common sense should have told her that appearing on a show called “Sex In The 90s”, it may come up if you run for office.
O’Donnell is challenging a congressman in Delaware’s Republican Senate primary, and until now no one took her seriously. The Huffington Post reports that O’Donnell was on a Sex In The 90s special on MTV. (Remember those?) “The Bible says that lust in your heart is committing adultery. So you can’t masturbate without lust,” she said, adding. “The reason that you don’t tell [people] that masturbation is the answer to AIDS and all these other problems that come with sex outside of marriage is because again it is not addressing the issue. You’re just gonna create somebody who is, I was gonna say, toying with his sexuality. Pardon the pun.”
The stupid. It burns. Blazing, white hot embers flying in the air…if you take a look at this teabagger’s web site, she wants government out of everyone’s lives, except for the government to control women’s wombs, and amend the constitution to protect marriage.
What kind of Tea Party does she belong to?
That’s interesting, because some in the LGBT community aren’t in agreement regarding the scope of homophobia within the Tea Party Movement. (Wash Blade):
Michael Cole, a Human Rights Campaign spokesperson, said the Tea Party movement has “taken a lot of the wind out of the LGBT demagoguery sails.”“Their relentless focus on economic issues has really taken a lot of the attention away from some of the attacks on LGBT people that we usually see from elements of the conservative movement,” he said.
Jimmy LaSalvia, executive director of GOProud, a gay conservative group, also maintained the focus of the Tea Party is on economic issues and not blocking the advancement of LGBT issues in Congress.
“The focus of the Tea Party is on fiscal issues and the growth of government, and their influence on Congress is to get Congress focused on those issues,” LaSalvia said. “And so, I think, if it’s having any influence on Congress, it’s telling Capitol Hill to wake up and quit spending all the money.”
Michael Mitchell, executive director of the National Stonewall Democrats, characterized the Tea Party as the reincarnation of previous anti-gay movements.
“There is, indeed, a very conservative movement out there that is finding a voice and turning some races, but I believe it’s the same anti-equality, anti-gay elements that have been roadblocks and are going to be roadblocks for us,” Mitchell said.
How many Christine O’Donnells are out there? The anti-gay, anti-choice meme has no place in the Tea Party if it is indeed about limited government.

Maine’s Tea Party GOP gubernatorial candidate Paul LePage, for oneThe guy is on the record has having the same views as Daniels.
In fact, LePage would work to remove our 2005 Human Rights Act!
He also tried to backpedal on his past creationism remarks.
And he tried to do it by coming up with a bullsh*t and completely unsubstantiated attack on the head of the Maine Dems- one might say that LePage “created” the distraction!
Pity it fooled NO ONE.
And his own campaign has a history of “creating” misrepresentations of their roles within the campaign, as well as censoring Maine voters asking about LePage’s creationism views.
VERY interesting stuff.
Oh, please I want to see Stewart and/or Colbert do this one!!Even BECK would be pretty funny….and can you imagine how much spit Limbag would put out!!
Well at least we know Carrie Prejean wouldn’t have answered that way.How about the Half GOV … imagine Sharon Angle? Or Brewer? Should we start a survey? Why not the guys too?

The Tea PartyThey seem to want the government to be small enough to fit into everybody’s bedroom, every cis woman’s uterus, and everybody’s personal spiritual space, whatever that may or may not be.
I see you Dan Savage and I raise you a RudepunditOhhh, what they could do with this.
Try itShe can take it from my cold dea… eh… warm sweaty hands…
It was never more than a soundbite.
“Limited government” has never been about the meaning of the words or the phrase. It’s a code for a whole set of policies, which involve “less government” only in the sense of less interference with white cis-male heterosexual Christian domination. The teabaggers only experience as “government” those activities thereof which interfere with their own sense of superiority. So turning the government into a vast imperial machine and combination of security force and brute squad acting on behalf of corporate and theocratic interests isn’t “government”, because “government” only means “activities the teabaggers don’t like.”
She’s not aloneMasturbation is actually a CRIME in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. To be precise a misdemeanor. It’s one of those preposterous laws that was put on the books back in the 1700s and never repealed. There was an attempt to repeal it back in the 1970s but it went nowhere. The fundamentalists who dominate the central part of the state (the “T”) went berserk at the attempt to strike down what they were sure was God’s own law, and the more enlightened people (and who isn’t?) were so embarrassed to be trying to engage them in a serious dialogue on the subject they just let it die.
For what it’s worth, I don’t believe the law has ever been enforced. My teenage self would have been in the slammer for life.
something tells meshe isn’t going to win. when you’re adamantly opposed (for purely religious reasons) to something pretty much every mammal finds pleasurable, and hurts no one, this does not bode well for your electoral possibilities.
No real progress as long as HRC exists
My response:
But, that’s par for the course with the Rhode Island Avenue money vortex.
All “the Tea Party movement” has done is rope-a-doped (some of) us into believing precisely what this HRClown professes to believe: That the Teabaggers, if actually in power, will actually be different (read: better) than BushCo, when, in reality, they will be exactly the same – or worse.
Dick Armey, anyone?
They’re all about “limited government” until you want to decide what to do with your own body or who you want to spend your life with.
And for years nowArmey has been rumored to belong to the same sewing circle as Graham, McConnell, Craig and Haggard.
YupJust saw that and was going to bring over a link that goes back to same Towleroad post. Good catch, Dub!
The Ohio Tea Klux Klan Is Hatin On GLBT peeps as wellThree interesting positions from their Conservative Voter Guide
3. Marriage is defined as being between a man and a woman, any other type of Union is not marriage.
4. Children should not be placed into foster homes where the parents are homosexual, bisexual, or transgender.
10. I oppose the ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ policy of the military and believe that all same sex partners should be banned from combat duty in the military because of the propensity to transmit blood-borne diseases in the theatre of battle.

Please, I don’twant to see any of them publicly masterbating. They do enough of it with their christian lies.
Dick Army (Freedom Foundation) and the Koch Brothersrich as creases (as in 32Billion) are financing this corporate farce called the TEA Party. We know that Beck is the head shill and the politicos are the means by which they will hold onto their billions and manipulate the economy. I am sure that the Koch Brothers have a cabal of other billionaires with which they decide how to meddle in the affairs of Congress, the Judiciary and the Executive to keep their money and increase their share of plunder from the American economy and the people who are working in it.
People we are living in a corporate oligarchy. Make no mistake.
Yeah, well I am mad at Maddow….NOW… not a peep from her about the KOCH's being the $$ behind it all.
Here is link to article for those who haven’t read it..
Masturbation is a sin?You go to hell if you double click your mouse? Geez, I’m going to hell twice.
According to the bibleit’s only a sin if a man does it. There’s some scripture about how bad it is to “spill your seed”. I vaguely remember it from a religion class I took in high school.
Onan, right? What Onan did wasn’t masturbation but coitus interruptus; he pulled out because he didn’t want to procreate.
Anyway, this reminds me of the Ladies Against Women satirical troupe, which held a mock demonstration outside a church years ago holding aloft signs reading “Male Masturbation is Mass Murder.”
(Monty Python’s “Every Sperm is Sacred,” anyone?)
My first encounter…… with James Dobson was at, oh, about age eight or so, and the onslaught of birds and bees lessons about how masturbation was wrong and sinful and would send me to hell. She went on with this “spilling the seed” verse and it became a part of the litany of all the “wicked desires” (along with thinking I was a girl) that made me an obviously evil person. Wonderful head trip for a kid. Thanks Daddy D. (I guess he no longer teaches that masturbation is sinful, or has at least sort of forgot).
I was about 15 when The Meaning of Life came out (which I had to sneak out and see without my mom knowing) and the “Every Sperm is Sacred” song was the first inkling that I had that some people found this notion preposterous.
That we haven’t advanced past this for a portion of the religious right probably shouldn’t boggle the mind, but it still does. But, it’s absolutely infuriating that there are still people who mindf@ck their own children like this.
