If you haven’t seen the video, you’ll get a chance after this:
Arizona Governor Jan Brewer is apparently done with participating in gubernatorial debates, because she is terrible at them. Per Jillian Rayfield at TPM:
Gov. Jan Brewer (R) has put the kibosh on all future debates with her Arizona gubernatorial opponent Terry Goddard (D), after her rather embarrassing display at Wednesday’s debate. “I don’t believe that things come out in proper context in an adversarial atmosphere,” she defended herself. My follow-up question would have probably been, “What is the proper context for your statement, and I quote, ‘…’” in which the ellipsis represents twenty seconds of silent dumbfoundment, but that’s beside the point.
Here’s where you get to figure out the context: drunk, brain-fart, brain-dead or “overprepped”…

Two Points…First, one of the voting options should be “Should be medicated”
.
Second….
Translation: I only have one brain cell and it is devoted to breathing.
Seriously, this woman is a political puppet with strings controlled by business and bigots.
Someone redo this skit for Brewerhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v…
i have relatives in AZand Brewer’s performance in the debate will not hurt her at all. She will still win in a landslide.
No fair, now we can’t ask her about masturbation publically!See above.
The best word for her performance was . . . Abysmal!
Yes, she mentions something about the abyss in her disjointed comments, but she seems to be “leading” her state to hell in a handbasket, down the slippery slope.
Is she relatedto George W. Bush by blood?
where’s Tina Fey when you need her?At last, a candidate who makes George W. Bush and Sarah Palin look like Nobel laureates.
However, she may very well have been self-medicated. President Sarkozy had such a moment, when he was mis en bouteille and, voilá, was trés bourée, and he survived. (It helps if you don’t have lunch with Vladimir Putin and then appear in public).

why is that? And what can we and you do that to change that?
My instincts tell me she is NOT going to win. Why? She just pissed off the PRESS and they are now going to go after her.
Living it and loving it!
I actually used to liveacross the street from Jan Brewer. She lives at 6835 W Union Hills Dr, Glendale, AZ, and I lived at 6835 W Morrow. My house was wedged between Morrow on the north and Union Hills on the south. I never met her in the years I lived there however. I once had a TV news crew show up at my front door looking to interview Brewer, confused on what street she lived on. It’s kind of a shame I don’t live there anymore. I would love to fly my transgender flag and a rainbow flag or two where she can see it when she leaves the house. Screw the home owner’s association.
Brewer clearly had handlers who coached her, and she didn’t have the smarts to even remember a handful of scripted lines spoon fed her. She blanked because she wasn’t speaking her own thoughts one bit, and was struggling to try to remember her lines. She can’t think on her feet at all, which leads one to wonder if she can think at all. It kind of worries me when I think that I was drinking the same city water as she was for all those years. The question is, who is her puppet master? Whoever it is, they’ve managed to stay out of sight.
It’s worse than you thinkShe claims there are headless bodies in the Arizona desert! Nevermind that law enforcement agencies and morgues say otherwise. Keith Olbermann nails her (not literally). Watch it all, if you can.
I fear for my state.
Fortunately, we have Barbra Seville (an institution in Phoenix) who reenacted Gov. Brewer’s debate prep:
not surprising, really emblamatic of her intellect. i’ve never figured out how she got elected to anything to begin with. fortunately, i live in va, with a gov. and AG, who both say and do stupid things constantly, without ever shutting up, so you know exactly what kind of maroons you’re dealing with.
WowIf Ms. Brewer can’t handle an “adversarial atmosphere”, what the eff is she doing in politics?!? ;-)
Why is that?Seems most Arizonan’s have one brain cell devoted to breathing.
She is his daughter begat by his sister.
Her puppet master are the owners of the private prisons Corrections Corporation of America (CXW on NYSE selling at %$22.99 a Share) currently owns and operates more than 60 facilities including 44 company-owned facilities, with a design capacity of more than 85,000 beds in 19 states. Who knows how much stock she owns or how much she is getting in political kickbacks via PACs that are run by the owners of this corporation. According to Wikipedia CCA has corporate ties to the military industrial complex as an employer of former military employees. CCA spent over 2.5 Million dollars to influence legislation between 2006 and 2008 to increase criminal penalties in order to keep people in jail longer, and thereby more profit. The founders of the corporation are: Tom Beasley,T. Don Hutto, Dr. Robert Crants.
If the Dems can’t mount a successful campaign against THAT, then there is no hope for their party.
doesn’t AZ also have Ben Quayle running? And judging by his comments and attitude, the potatoe didn’t fall far from the tree.

Jon Stewart couldn’t make this stuff up.
because 70%of AZ residents approve of the “papers please” law. Prior to signing that law into effect, Brewer had an approval rating in the 40s. After signing it, her approval went up to near 70%
Brewer is a lesson that all elections are importantShe was elected Arizona Secretary of State in Nov 2002, after having served in a number of other elected positions like Maricopa County Board of Supervisors, the state Senate and state House of Representatives. In many respects, she had an almost classic political career except for the last step to governor. She started out being active in the Republican party, and then climbed the ladder of increasingly important offices. The problem is that people really don’t pay much attention to lesser positions in government. Hardly anybody even knows what the Arizona Secretary of State is supposed to do. So, people pay scant attention to the candidates for that office, and generally vote by party affiliation or name recognition. However, by rules of succession, Secretary of State steps into the governor’s office if a governor leaves office before the end of the term. In AZ history, there has been a surprisingly sizable number of people who have gained governorship through Secretary of State. There’s been five since I was in high school. Brewer’s career could have been stopped at any point if people had just been paying attention to what she was saying and doing in office, but everyone focuses on the federal elections, the governor’s race, and a little bit on State Attorney General. Beyond that, people just don’t care. They vote the name they’ve seen the most signs and TV ads for.
added the same drag Brewer video to open thread…oopsThere’s a Craig Ferguson video link with fart noises that tickled me, and Terry Goddard’s attack ad against Brewer…nails her.
