This is hysterical – Newt’s going to have a hard slog ahead if he plans to run for President – his own party faithful are going to talk about his inability to understand the “Sanctity of Marriage.” Via Think Progress:
U.S. Sen. Tom Coburn called out Democrats, Republicans, Newt Gingrich, the military-industrial complex, teachers unions and Medicare – to name a few – at a town hall meeting Friday. [...]Coburn made it clear that he won’t be on Newt Gingrich’s 2012 presidential bandwagon. Gingrich “is a super-smart man, but he doesn’t know anything about commitment to marriage,” he said of the thrice-married former House speaker. “He’s the last person I’d vote for for president of the United States. His life indicates he does not have a commitment to the character traits necessary to be a great president.”

Word of the day: juggernautFrom the Wikipedia:
Gingrich helped get moving the very thing that is crushing his political dreams under its wheels. I hope he’s happy.
LOL, Newt’s a ho, Sarah isstupid and Mitt’s a Mormon.
Pass the popcorn, please.
Isn’t it too, too nicethat Coburn has figured out what the rest of us knew years ago? Better late than never, I guess.
Gingrich doesn’t have a chance in hell of becoming president. But he will join the long, long line of American politicians who, after their presidential ambitions were dashed, spent the rest of their lives making trouble for the republic. Burr…Calhoun…Bryan…Thurmond…Gingrich. (And, of course, a lot of others.) The procession of villainous political has-beens never seems to end.
I do so love thisIf we can give them enuf time, and enuf rope……
[pauses to mix a metaphor]
….like the gingham dog and the calico cat, they’ll eat one another up!
Splintering right down the middle…And just in time for November. It’s gonna be interesting to see if the extremist right wing nutbars all stay home because the somewhat sane faction of the GOP is now running away from them.
No GOP Candidate Left Behind. That does it.
Only question in my mind is how we can have a meritocracy without turning it into grad school….
*grumble.* Every damn time the ‘conservatives’ get asplodey like this, I gotta dig out all these razzafrazzin Bruce Lee kinda sticks.
AMPHIBIAN vs REPTILEooh I hope Newtie fires a shot back @ The Box Turtle!
Wall Street Mowed Down By Church Streettsk tsk….the Peasants are about to take Versailles….
It’s strange…One day you read an article about the left’s ineptitude, and the next day you read an article about the right’s fragmentation/in-fighting.
I’m still wondering who’s more SOL come November…
So I guess the question isis he going to be intellectually and morally honest and not support any divorced candidate? Or is this just the excuse he’s using?
Ah, who am I kidding? Of course it’s just an excuse.
You wanna know who’s SOL?The answer is simple: AMERICA. No matter which side comes out on top in the election, the country’s screwed.
That’s because we have a Two Party systemThat is to say, a single political organization called the Two Party runs things and if you don’t like it, who are you going to vote for?
There is no meritocracywe live in a corporate oligarchy.
If the Greens ever got on the ballotI would vote for them. But in my part of the country, we don’t even have a Democrat running for office (for State Representative in Annapolis)
Eatn their ownLove it.
Frankenstein’s monster comes to mindAs penned by Mary Shelley in Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus in 1816-1817. A classic example. Cf. also Trueba in The House of the Spirits.
Gingrich had just enough political debts saved up to call in for thisand after this fizzles, I bet he’s pretty much blown his wad of political capital and that’ll be that. Another has-been also-ran. Ho hum.
Not if Fox News has anything to say about it.
