While their denominations and churches might disapprove of same-sex marriages, there are other congregations that welcome and celebrate gay marriages just as they would any other realtionship. You can’t pass laws based on the religious beliefs of the former without infringing on the religious rights of the latter.

There is a great deal of panic amongst the fringe right these days. There is no doubt that society at large has shifted decisively in favor of growing acceptance and inclusion of gay people. Many of the most well known and money driven can read the tea leaves and adjusted their spiel accordingly : Beck, Coulter,Limbaugh. The rest never gained enough celebrity to shift gears and so instead are amping up the hate.
Still, Muslims are the gays of this election cycle and most likely the most powerful wedge issue in 12 will be stoking Islamophobia.
That is not a good thing but it’s evidence of how much progress we have made in deflating the ability of our enemies to demonize us for profit by living out and proud.

I don’t think I’m necessarily engaging in the fallacy . . . . . . when I attack Bryan Fischer’s qualifications as a Christian. Any time he uses the bible as justification, he has to misinterpret it.
If we’re defining Christian solely on the basis on acceptance of the Nicene Creed (with the caveat that it may be with or without the filioque, else either Western or Eastern Christianity would fail the test, depending on which version is deemed to be genuine), then you might be right – his assertions are neither consistent with nor against the basic credal statements.
If we’re defining Christian using Bryan’s criteria, then, of course, he gets to be one. But he’s still a very bad one, since he does tend to get his scripture all misunderstood.

Ergun Caner?He’s no longer the head of Liberty University’s Theological Seminary. In fact, while he’s still teaching at Liberty, he appears to have been relegated to the online school. Why? Well, he lied about his past. He claimed, over and over and over again, that he was raised a devout Muslim in Turkey and came over here to the USA as a teenager to participate in jihad, but then he found Jesus.
The only part that’s correct on that is that he found Jesus. The facts are that Caner came here with his parents when he was three years old, his parents separated by the time he was seven, there was a tussle over what religion he was going to be taught, his mother (not Muslim) had primary custody and his connections to Islam in central Ohio were limited to his interactions with his father. But he spun this full tissue of lies after 9/11, when he went from being Michael E. Caner, Baptist minister, to Ergun Mehmet Caner, university professor and former Muslim.
So the question is, why is the Values Voter Summit having this guy to speak. After all, he’s a confirmed liar … oh, wait….
