There are times when religious right figures say things so nastily homophobic, so unbelievable that it's a waste to decipher the comment.
The only thing you can do is just allow the comment to speak for itself.
Today's piece by Coral Ridge Ministry writer (and perennial anti-gay) Robert Knight on DADT in the Washington Times is a perfect example. Here is a choice morsel:
Forcing open homosexuality on the armed forces would destroy the volunteer military and bring back the compulsory draft. Since women are now deployed close to combat, and the only legal reason they are not eligible is their combat exemption, a new draft could include our daughters. And some would face pressure to have on-base abortions in order to complete their tours of duty.
Chaplains would be the first victims of Mr. Obama's homosexualization of the military, followed by anyone who violated “zero tolerance” policies for homosexual acceptance. Bible-believing Christians would quickly find themselves unwelcome in Barney Frank's new pansexual, cross-dressing military.
Other fallout includes family housing, reduction in retention, recruitment and unit cohesion, an increase in homosexual sexual assaults and a boost to overturning the federal Defense of Marriage Act.
He forgot the rampant cannibalism and forced tattooing. Or does that come later? I wouldn't know because national headquarters hasn't sent me the latest copy of the “Gay Agenda” as of yet.
It's not surprising to hear Knight go off the deep end about lgbts. After all, what else can one expect from a man who freely cites the work of the discredited Paul Cameron; a man who believes that gays wallow in feces when we aren't sticking gerbils up our rear ends.
I have an interesting story about Knight and Cameron which I recounted in my 2007 book Holy Bullies and Headless Monsters. I had the distinct (dis)pleasure of meeting Knight at the University of South Carolina in 2004. I was able to point blank ask him why does he use the work of the discredited Cameron.
His answer to me was, and I quote:
“Yes we have used his research. So what?”
And this is the guy who is supposed help preserve “Christian values?”
All I can say is that if Knight ever becomes involved in some type of “rentboy” scandal, I will be the first to ship him to one of those ex-gay camps.
After all, we can't let just anybody in the lgbt community.
Hat tip to Media Matters.

Obviously, this man is insaneDo all the RRRW have some prescience that has been tested by science and proven to be valid? These people are nothing but fearmongers stirring up bigotry and hate wherever they go. Too bad his mother didn’t have an abortion.
PREVENT ABORTION:Become a Lesbian!
srsly – how will homos in uniform create the need for more abortions? does this guy even understand same-sex-sex? did he forget to read the talking points that we don’t have children naturally (though many of us do) so therefore we should not be allowed to marry?
you can’t have it both ways, Bobby. either we don’t have children naturally so we have to recruit your helpess innocents OR we somehow increase the need to terminate a pre-person. pick one myth and doggedly stick to it no matter what real science documents.
My best guess isthat he’s trying to revive the tired old meme that gay men hate women so viciously that we rape them gleefully every chance we get. Remember, gay people have made a deliberate choice to live an evil lifestyle; ergo, there is no evil we’re not capable of embracing.
I can’t imagine many people, even right-wingers, still buy that laughably dated evil homo/psycho crap anymore, but then Knight and his comrades aren’t living in the 21st century, are they? I’m surprised they aren’t warning us about the Kaiser.
When you consider Alvin’s statement
it shines a light on the values of religiobigots. In fact, he is working to preserve “christian” values, regardless of what his holy literature or god says.
Again, it’s about fear and control, not about logic or compassion or right/wrong. We need to understand that these people live/love to hate and hate that we live/love. Nothing they say or do should surprise us considering the track record.
Hundreds of thousands of our sons killed in was? NO PROBLEM!
but heaven forbid that we should draft our precious daughters and see them coming home in body bags in equal numbers!
How would we EVER be able to convince America that a future war was just, necessary and worth the sacrifice if they knew that our precious daughters might be sacrificed!
This is EXACTLY the reason that these people don’t want women in the military and certainly don’t want them drafted or put into combat in large numbers. They are terrified that America would never agree to go into any more Iraqs or Afghanistans if they had to explain women coming home in body bags by the thousands.
What a shame that our sons, fathers and brothers aren’t considered as precious and their slaughter isn’t considered equally as unacceptable.
Two pointsOne, limiting the rights of others to justify “not limiting yours” is a total logical inconsistency. I mean think about, should we keep minorities from having equal rights because whites cry “It will cause reverse racial discrimination” or “I should have the freedom to be able to use hate slurs as this is a free country”? Same thing, it’s all about oppressing and violating the rights of a group to promote YOUR rights over the group you dislike and are not a part of.
Two, I’m getting a little tired of the religious right forcing their delusions on others. Before anyone calls me an Atheist.. I’m Agnostic and my beliefs will not change any point I make this is logically consistent anyway. That being said please read this:
“Imaginary friends are made often in childhood, sometimes in adolescence, and rarely in adulthood. They often function as tutelaries when played with by a child. They reveal, according to several theories of psychology, a child’s anxieties, fears, goals and perceptions of the world through that child’s conversations. They are, according to some children, physically indistinguishable from real people, while others say they see their imaginary friends only in their heads.
Children have reported creating or maintaining imaginary friends as pre-teens or teenagers, and very few adults report having imaginary friends. This may, however, signal a serious psychological disorder.”
Now, what’s my point? My point is how are invisible Deities NOT imaginary friends in adulthood? Do they not sound very similar? The only problem here is, you lose control of your imaginary person. Some Pope or Priest or religious “interpreter” of a book starts to tell you things such as “if you don’t do what I say your imaginary friend will no longer love you.” Now it turns from some childhood fantasy to cope with things and shift into adulthood, and it becomes a way to control people. Of course, only the MUTUAL, approved, and monopolized Deity is the one that is the true one. The rest are all fake. I propose this… if you want to believe in invisible friends that is your choice. How can I tell you that you are wrong in that? But once you tell people that they must obey your invisible friend or you will hate or hurt them… well then you’re just a total nutcase/manipulative jerk.
