Shared with us from Blender Tracey in D.C., photos of direct action in the nation’s capital today, urging the White House and Congress to repeal DADT — Lt. Dan Choi was arrested (and is still sitting in jail), along with Capt. Jim Pietrangelo, for chaining themselves to the White House fence.

Powerful photosMay we all have the courage to stand up for our community as these 3 people have. I salute them.
John Aravosis over at AmericaBlogis reporting that Dan is being held without bail and is even being denied his right to make a phone call. At this point, no one is even certain where he is. Which is to say, he’s being denied even his most basic constitutional rights. Another demonstration of Obama’s fierce advocacy, I guess. I imagine if he doesn’t mind going to court repeatedly to defend policies he admits are unconstitutional, this business is nothing at all to him.
Let’s all just hope Dan doesn’t end up in Gitmo or someplace like it, huh?
Wow….Its one thing to stand up and proudly proclaim “I’m Gay and a member of the US Military” its another thing entirely to breech the UCMJ so balantly.
Seriously, if you are in uniform and break the law, even if it is ‘civil disobedicance’..
..well, all of his work is moot. He can now be discharged due to this. Cleanly… sit back and watch how fast they’ll do it to. They will do it quick and they may very well do it publicly and the whole time they’re doing it they’ll be saying that it has nothing at all to do with DADT.
Poor PlanningI love that, on the same day, there was a rally in DC, sit-ins at Pelosi’s offices, and a blogswarm involving all of the major LGBT sites. What I DON’T love is that the rally was for DADT, while the sit-ins and the blogswarm were for ENDA. We would have left a much stronger impression today – and the MSM would have been more likely to cover our efforts – if all three of those things had been for one single solitary issue. I know there are a LOT of issues for the LGBT community to concentrate on, but we need to emphasize one at a time and put all of our efforts into each one individually.
About the first pictureOne word: Pulitzer.
That being said, I have serious doubts that the military will actually DO anything.
Being Military I wonder if he is in the Military jail (Stockade).
BraveDan has more balls than anyone at the Whitehouse or in the Senate or House.
If these Washington wimps ever were called upon to do anything outside of their own bubble wrapped worlds, we would actually be living on a better planet than the one that presently exists.
All these false institutions and pillars of the world are crumbling before our eyes under the weight of their darkness and lies.
Sad but truth will win in the end.
GLBTQ’s rock this world!!!
Please get a gripSo what Gina, you want to ask Barney Frank or the HRC to accomplish more than what Choi has done in one day than what they have done in the past 30 years?? Be my guest, you will be sadly disappointed.
Ditto. Thanks!
If we can find out where they areWe have to pay their bail. Chaining to a fence out of political protest is not terrorism.
The problem is that it wasn’t just any fence……it was the fence surrounding the White House. This means he’s probably being held and questioned by the Secret Service before being turned over to the DC Police Department.
One can only imaginea world where Lt. Dan Choi is President. He is truly a hero.
