It’s a day of pink advocacy and activism that we haven’t seen in a long time.
We had the DADT demonstration led by Dan Choi, who chained himself to the White House fence to protest inaction on DADT repeal, resulting in his arrest.
And earlier in the day, bloggers did a swarm asking readers to call Speaker Pelosi to urge her to bring ENDA to a vote.
Now Get Equal members are engaged in a sit-in at Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s offices in DC and SF. Will not leave until bill comes to vote this month – or until arrested. (Get Equal):
Nancy Pelosi has the ability to end workplace discrimination of LGBTQ people, but she is refusing to act. It’s time to let her know that we won’t wait any longer. As you read this, GetEqual.org members are entering Pelosi’s offices in DC and her district office in San Francisco. They won’t leave until Speaker Pelosi commits to bring the Employment Non-Discrimination Act to the floor for a vote this month – or until they are arrested.
As President Obama himself said, quoting Frederick Douglass: “Power concedes nothing without a demand.” We know Speaker Pelosi is sympathetic to our cause, but is she ready to act on our civil rights? It is time for a demand.

I got through to her office, and when I said I wanted to support introducing ENDA, the staff lady forwarded me to her voicemail :/ I left a message. Ugh.
Power to the people attending the sit-ins! I hope more people can show up!

Great job, Get EqualI will be at the San Diego protest tonight. Everyone who can, get involved in a rally. Here’s the info…..
“In San Diego, activists will gather at 6pm in front of the Hall of Justice to demand the release of Choi, Pietrangelo, and McGehee. This rally will be a peaceful protest in demand of full equality. Across the state, similar rallies will be held. In San Francisco, supporters will gather at City Hall at 6pm. Los Angeles and Sacramento are also holding rallies in solidarity”.
Sorry.Meant to post under Lt. Choi’s story
Remember the today’s dateMarch 18, 2010: the day we snatched our own movement out of HRC’s incompetent clutches.
This is what it’s going to take.I can’t tell you how proud I am of getequal.org. Finally we have a group taking the lead from the pathetic (and bloated) HRC. I called Pelosi’s office and left a message earlier. I am just so frigging excited – for the first time in years!
