You hear that Congress — Jeebus, god almighty pass HCR pronto! Anybody willing to help jettison this piece of human excrement out of the U.S.? (Think Progress):
CALLER: If the health care bill passes, where would you go for health care yourself? And the second part of that is, what would happen to the doctors, do they have to participate in the federal program, or could they opt out of it? [...]
LIMBAUGH: My guess in even in Canada and even in the UK, doctors have opted out. And once they’ve opted, they can’t see anybody Medicare, Medicaid, or what will become the exchanges. They have to have a clientele of private patients that will pay them a retainer and it’ll be a very small practice. I don’t know if that’s been outlawed in the Senate bill. I don’t know. I’ll just tell you this, if this passes and it’s five years from now and all that stuff gets implemented – I am leaving the country. I’ll go to Costa Rica.
Don’t forget to take your Viagra and money for “entertainment,” Rushbo.

Now we MUST pass itif only to get rid of Rush
Maura beat me to it!Calling my congreecritters R-A-T NOW!
Um, re: his comments about CanadaThere’s not really an opt in or opt out. If a doctor sees someone for a complaint that is covered by Health Care, he bills the provincial Health Care Plan. If he sees someone for something not covered, he bills the patient or their medical plan if applicable.
Most medical professionals I’ve spoken with either want to maintain public health care, or in the most right-wing cases modify it to allow more financial opportunity. But almost all acknowledge that total or privatization would reduce the user base (those who can and do spend money on health care) significantly and even in “third way” health discussions, total privatization is not an option for any but one particular provincial government wanting to save money.
Just unbelievable…The amount of lies and misinformation he spews about what this reform really involves is astounding. In a more evolved and responsible world, he would be fired by his employer for repeatedly making false statements on the air – but alas, profits prevail over good journalism. It’s a price we pay for free speech, I suppose.
We can only hope…If he does, it would certainly be one of the best things to come out of this watered-down “reform” bill!
where would he go?to people like Rush, anywhere that is not the good ol USA is socialist hell
Um, re: his comments about UKIt is remarkable how someone so disconnected from the facts feels free to “guess”…
In the UK all doctors work within the National Health Service (NHS). There is provision for individuals to take out private insurance in addition to their tax / NHS contributions – which is basically a way for the rich (perhaps 5%) to queue jump. But private medicine is usually provided by NHS doctors working within NHS facilities, with their contracts allowing them a certain amount of private practice provided they meet their NHS commitments.
But the facts are obviously too complicated for Rush and get in the way of his arguments?
Heee…And Costa Rica has “comprehensive public health insurance with equal access to services” (see http://www.cehat.org/rthc/pape… Doesn’t that sound suspiciously socialist?!
And where would he go to escape? Canada? Mexico? The UK? Germany? Norway?Just askin’
Rush Limbaugh….”flee”?Waddle, slither, weeble-wobble……
but I just can’t imagine Rush “fleeing”! LOL
from your lips to G*d’s ear…rushbo
Think there aren’t Limpbaugh tapes ridiculing Alec Baldwin and others threatening to be ex-pats?
don’t let the door hit ya in the ass
Do you supposeCosta Rica has much more lax regulations for Oxycontin? Just asking. Like Rush, I’m only guessing. Then again, if prescription pain killers were more readily available in Costa Rica, Rush would already have moved there.
I thought soI was going to comment that I’m pretty sure Costa Rica has universal healthcare, as does most of the rest of the civilized world. Of course, we can’t let facts get in the way. What a gasbag!!!
It’d be like the NFL…Nobody would want him. He’d be on his own world tour, looking for a country that would accept him.
The other issue-He’d have to learn how to use that evil socialist fascist metric system. We can’t have that now, can we?
Uganda?
Costa Rica lets you buy any drug you want over the counter.
“Hay Valium?”
“Ci! Quantos?”
Two WordsGood Riddance
Incentive! All the more reason to pass it and pass it now!
Canada’s got the cheap drugsOxy and all that….
Not that I’m saying I’d want him but it seems like W and Sarah Palin like it, or at least in Calgary AB / Little Texas. :(
Not so fast…If Rush is anything like his following he probably thought he was “out of the country” when he was in Hawaii. I wanna be sure he is really going to leave the whole country.
Costa RicaNot only over the counter and cheap, doesn’t Costa Rica have universal healthcare?
