The American Family Association, run by the elderly Don Wildmon and heir to the bigotry throne Tim, has moved into 21st century gay-bashing, with its blog Focal Point. It’s a poorly designed attempt to pull in some younger anti-gay sheep to fleece, but it still turns out drivel that is completely batsh*t.
Look at this column by Bryan Fischer, “Homosexual agenda or the Constitution: take your pick because you can’t have both.” That headline is all you need to know to watch dead ahead for a break with reality based thinking.
The homosexual agenda represents a clear and present danger to virtually every fundamental right given to us by our Creator and enshrined for us in our Constitution.Start with freedom of religion and freedom of speech, the first two of our inalienable rights secured for us in the Bill of Rights.
As a culture, we must choose between the homosexual agenda or the Constitution because we can’t have both.
Further proof comes from the abjectly pathetic decision of the chaplains’ office at Andrews Air Force Base to rescind a long-standing invitation to Tony Perkins, the president of the Family Research Council. Perkins had been invited to give a non-political talk at a prayer luncheon on the base yesterday, but was abruptly dis-invited for one simple reason: he supports the current law which makes homosexuals ineligible for service in the United States military.
Does anyone here feel like a clear and present danger as you step out to by a gallon of milk? Are people around sensing the carnage you represent to their rights? Apparently Fischer has some sort of insight on how everything is going to go to hell in a handbasket when DADT is repealed. The melodramatic presentation and imagery here are so over the top, I’d like to see this essay faxed to Sen. John McCain, who is still clinging desperately to his belief that DADT is working. Is it at all embarrassing to be on the side of extremists Elaine “flow chart” Donnelly and Fischer? Christianity in the military is under attack.
The days of Dred Scott have returned. Christians now are the ones are being confined on the plantation, and warned about being too uppity. The only ones who will feel “included” here are those who support sexual deviancy in the military. The rest of you Neanderthals, well, that’s just too bad. This is the new military, regardless of what the law says, so get used to it.
McCarthyism has now struck the U.S. military with a vengeance. The question now that the military is asking is this: “Are you now, or have you ever been, a supporter of traditional morality?” If the answer is yes, you go on our blacklist, and we deprive you of your freedom of religion, speech and military service.
The implications for national security, especially for recruitment and retention, are sobering. As gays come roaring out of the military’s closet with fangs bared, they will be sending heterosexuals to the brig if they won’t keep their opinions to themselves. Who wants to serve in a military like that?

No wonder they’re so grouchymost guys object if you use your fangs. :sarcasm:
Where do they come up with this batcrap? They’ve gotta be drinking Sterno to get this crazy.
What about the Dominionist fire-and-brimstone agenda?
1. The fundies think that they are the only ones entitled to “freedom of religion” and “freedom of speech”. They hate it when non-”Christians” use those specific freedoms against the tyranny of the fundies.
2. Tony Perkins is a psychobigot with connections to “white heritage” supremacy groups.
3. Yes, Dred Scott is back, and it’s the fire-and-brimstone elitists who are running the plantations (making people slaves under their “master”). And they want to lynch the LGBT community.
4. Aren’t these the kind of people who support McCarthyism?
One last thing…you can’t have both the dominionist agenda and the Constitution.
Let’s save this for the next timethey accuse us of “hijacking” the civil rights movement.
Thank you Pam!What an awsome way to start my day! I gotta say, this had me rolling! My fangs are coming out alright! Should have seen some of the letters to the editor of the Stars and Stripes yesterday! I wrote in, doubt they will publish my view. It is pathetic the length that they are going to these days. Reminds me of the push to criminalize marijuana.
“They will turn your daughters into whores!”
“Your sons will kill one another!”
“Their worse than heroin”
“its the devils best friend!”
actually I like the imagry of storming out of the closet fangs baredThese hateful f*cktards have pusherd us for a decade attacking our families, and it’s time they know there is a consequence for f*cking with some of us.
Breibart TV has been whining about that knuckle dragging white trash Perkins being disinvited, they’ve run THREE stories and interviewed him personally. The bigger point is this creep should NEVER have been invited to any military meeting PERIOD, he bought the klan mailing list from David Duke, and it’s shmucks like him and Dobson proslethizing in the CO Air Force, and those morons sending bibles to war zones to convert Afghan Muslims…which is VERBOTTEN for good reason, it endangers ALL our troops.
sky is falling, y2k,sky is falling, y2k,sky is falling, y2k
deprived of what?i understand that the “us” who own “our” constitution is meant to be the like minded homophobes who wish the U.S. was a theocracy. the insistence that only straight evangelical family values types are entitled to constitutional rights is tiresome. also, someone should clarify what some of those freedoms mean.
freedom of speech – if you make a statement which someone else subsequently refutes, ridicules, etc. – they are not denying you freedom of speech, simply joining you in the exercise
freedom of religion – does not mean you are entitled to force those who do not share your proclivity to convert or face legal sanction. those who do not submit to your theocratic bullying are not “denying your freedom of religion”, simply exercising their own.
neither of these rights entitle one to be hired for a speaking engagement. if it is economically, socially, politically (etc.) inconvenient to the sponsor, they are under no obligation to hire anyone, and are not denying you “free speech” if they fire you.
You are also not entitled to employment if you refuse to carry out the tasks outlined in the job description. i.e. if you are a pharmacist – your job is to dispense the medicine listed on the prescription, not to pick and choose which ones are ok. If you violate company regulations and disrupt the workplace environment by telling your gay coworkers they are going to hell for being faggots, your employer is not denying your freedom of religion (or speech) when they fire your ass.
the fact that not everyone embraces your views, that you can’t force others to comply with those views, or if your fellow citizens ridicule those views does NOT mean you are being oppressed or persecuted.
as tom waits says….Come down off the cross
We can use the wood
“De storm eet is comeng….”LOL. Let it rain, let it rain! Bring it Tony. But what cha gonna do when the Gay Christians come for you!?!
Must Have Missed SomethingDid we get new homosexual agendas? I thought the old ones were good, but the new ones must be even more powerful.
UmmmmmAn invitation is not a right, it’s an I N V I T A T I O N. Mr. Perkins if free to exercise his right to be ignorant and hateful just as he was before.
The AGENDAApparently I didn’t get that email. If anyone has a copy of the new agenda, would you please email it to me? :)
Um, yes.
Speaking strictly and solely for myself, yes, I do.
But then, I’m aware that I’m meaner than they are, smarter than they are, and generally far more willing to be wholly and utterly evil (in their eyes) than they are.
I inspire fear and fascination in equal measures.
Only power does that, and I’ve got plenty.
Of course, I’m trans, so I’m also crazy according to them. Eh.
I swear, we should just organize GLBT into a freaking religion and tell themall to piss off. We’d instantly get all the protections and benefits they do. I could use a little tax free cash personally –
“We cannot both exist”I was taking a deposition this morning, early, from an Orthodox Bishop at least tangentially involved in the ethnic cleansing in Bosnia.
“We cannot both exist. What is freedom to us offends them(Muslims) and what si freedom to them offends us. Ours is the way of God and Christ. They must be eliminated or we can have no freedom to be Christian”
He had no shame; he spoke expounded without any thought that he could possibly be in the wrong.
His testimony was the best example and most honest exposition of the literallist Christian viewpoint towards dissent that I have likely ever heard.
He was unfailingly polite, spoke flawless German in addition to his native tongue, nodded each time that he referred to me directly as Freiin, and would have been a courtly, pleasant prelate in any dirnner discussion. Except that he was discussing the rationale of a genocide through those smiling lips and with that dulcet toned diction.
They, in the end, do not believe that they can co-exist with us.
They intend to destroy us.
So…
Including the right to have our natural lives equated to the paper-based existence of artificial entities such as corporations?
Our lives are not equal to corporationsCorporations can commit suicide only under government supervision.
We are murdered frequentl;y with little or no consequence.
Fangs? Is there a special attachment for my electric toothbrush for that? Does this mean I have to floss everyday?
As a Conservative, Constitutional Constructionist Queer…I’ve known that a lot of my Left-wing Queer friends and my Right-wing politico friends consider me a contradiction in terms… I’ve just never felt so completely and utterly rendered a political unperson until now.
Equal rights for queers = Constitution brand toilet paper?
Whaaaa?
Since when does insisting that the Constitution applies equally to the defense and protection of GLBT people as to WASP people destroying the Constitution? I’d think it bolsters, buoys, and benefits a Constitutional Republic that there should be no demographic, no matter how small or transparent which may be allowed to fall between the cracks of Constitutional protections.
Funny me.
They where the onse that created the first Homosexual agendaThey didn’t tell us about that one so I am not surprised they are gonna send one out to us this time!
AFA ChristofacistsWith reparative therapy, I can cure a Christian in a couple days. Then they can lead a normal and productive life without being a threat to others.
Wait a second.. they passed out the agendas???I think I lost mine in my TPS reports… They were right here honest. I remember, I put my stapler on them. Its a red Swingline stapler…
Have you seen my stapler? Its a red Swingline….
i actually agree with the assertion of a republic leaving nobody behind in civil de jure rights.
someone humor me on a sidenote, why don’t we ever proclaim that the religious reich’s denial of our rights to be equally treated is against our own religious viewpoints and that they are performing not only gay bashing (at least verbal) but also religious intolerance of our personal beliefs (i.e. the right to get married can be a personal belief considering the belief in your own deity/w.e/or absence of one ordaining/blessing it)?
Religion is the result of innate paranoia……when fear overcomes one’s senses and one turns to religion to assuage that fear instead of scientific knowledge, one is lost to ingorance forever. Religion truly is the opiate of the masses. It gives them a false reality of self-satisfied security and a podium from which to judge other people. Those are just two reasons I hate organized religion. Others have to do with paternalism, the 99% chance there are no gawds, the failure of religion to live up to its promises, and then all of the snake oil salesmen and women who peddle their religious wares for abominable amounts of money with no return on investment or living up to the standards they set for others — hypocrisy.
From Harry Jackson the carpetbagger to Pat Robertson the temple whore to Maggie Gallagher and her worthless religious studies degree, they are all hypocrites, liars, and snakeoil salespeople and have no authority to preach to anyone, much less those of us who have really experienced oppression and bigotry.
I wish that were true.If it were, I would hire you,
But it seems to me that many people are beyond redemption. They will not be satisfied until they have annihilated mankind.
Yes.
This is what I’ve been trying to say for the longest.
And the new-style types like Rick Warren are just warm-and-fuzzy versions. As soon as they have acquired enough power that they no longer feel the need to be warm-and-fuzzy, they will be rigging up the lynching ropes just like the others.
The only time my gay agenda has limited someone’s freedom of speechwas when I was ramming it down their throat.
(Dear Peter, you seem to really, really enjoy that sort of imagery so this one was just for you)
Just like the Manhattan Declaration says . . . . . . Christianists believe in “freedom of religion” only for those who believe as they do on critical issues such as opposing LGBT rights, women’s reproductive rights, marriage equality, etc.
Anyone who may be, say, a real Christian who follows the teachings of Jesus Christ, and not those of the Satan who informs Donald Wildmon and his evil crew, in the AFA’s view, shoud be persecuted.
I’m a Unitarian (recovering Catholic), which is a faith that is open to enrichment from many traditions. I happen to be one for whom the teachings of Jesus are important – not the messianic stuff that was put into his mouth by those who wrote his story with an agenda, but the principles for life that include the herd things like loving your neighbor, even if your neighbor is different.
Because I believe in LGBT rights, women’s reproductive rights, marriage equality, etc. that the AFA opposes, I have my freedom of religion curtailed.
These clowns do not understand the Constitution – for them, only they should ahve rights, but the least of God’s children should have no rights. Donald Wildmon and his ilk will find themselves numbered among the goats if they do not repent and mend their ways.
