As Carrie Prejean fades from the public view, the gay community has to deal with yet another loudmouth beauty queen from California.
And if you ask me, she makes Prejean look like Mother Teresa:
Carrie Prejean isn't the only beauty queen open to expressing her objection to same-sex marriage.
Miss Beverly Hills 2010 Lauren Ashley is also speaking out in support of traditional nuptials.
“The Bible says that marriage is between a man and a woman. In Leviticus it says, 'If man lies with mankind as he would lie with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death and their blood shall be upon them.' The Bible is pretty black and white . . . “
“I feel like God himself created mankind and he loves everyone, and he has the best for everyone. If he says that having sex with someone of your same gender is going to bring death upon you, that's a pretty stern warning, and he knows more than we do about life.”
It's interesting how the Fox News article tries to sugarcoat Ashley's comments and underplay that part about Leviticus. Although the irony is that if she truly followed Leviticus, she wouldn' be half bare assed on a stage seeking a beauty crown.
The article goes on to say that she is echoing the comments which got Prejean in trouble and this is no true. God forbid that I look like I'm defending Prejean, but she never said a word about gays and death.
Of course there is an upside to this. Having learned their lesson with the Prejean affair, I don't think anyone is going to be anointing Ashley as the newest victim of political correctness. Although from reading the article, Ashley comes across as someone who wouldn't even say the word “doodie” for fear that it's profanity. She is a perfect religious right spokesperson.
But let's be real. Her comments are so damn mean. I'm almost want to see the religious right try to defend her nonsense.

Threatening language is threatening language; it doesn’t matter what comic book you use to back it up. This is hate speech and should be denounced as such.

When you say stupid or dangerous shit, it’s YOURS- you OWN it- and you can’t say “oh, well I have gay friends and I think gay people should be killed because the Bible says so, and my friends and I get along even though we have different views.”

She makes Carrie Prejean look sweetI mean really, opposing marriage equality is onerous, but it isn’t on the same level as condoning death for gays. This “beauty” makes Prejean look good in retrospect much like George W. Bush made Reagan look not-as-evil by comparison.

By telling us that SkyThunderer wants us dead she’s openly calling for the death of US citizens. That makes her a terrorist and clearly open to prosecution, although her fellow christers would call it persecution. Whichever it is we need a lot of it to deal with killer christers here and in Uganda.
Unfortunately since Obama shares her views on same sex marriage there’s not much chance that she’ll be prosecuted. Oh well, at least some people have a ‘fierce defender’.

check that Bible quoteIt’s not in leviticus. It’s not actually a verse in the Bible. It does say “thou shalt not lie with mankind as with womankind, it is an abomination” – or close variants on that depending on the translation. But the “surely they shall be put to death” thing is just made up.
If we’re going to let these holier than thou people stand up and use the Bible to defend their stupid ideas, then can we at least call them out when they are making up what the Bible says?

Lauren Ashley, a Miss California USA contestant and outspoken opponent of same-sex marriage, claims Beverly Hills as the city she represents. Beverly Hills lays no claim to her whatsoever.
Quite the opposite. In a statement Wednesday, the city said it was shocked by Ashley’s description of herself as “Miss Beverly Hills.” The city “does not sponsor a beauty pageant and has no association with Miss California USA,” the statement said. “As such, there should be no individual claiming the title of Miss Beverly Hills.”
The city’s statement said Ashley lives in Pasadena and “does not represent Beverly Hills in any capacity.”

Actually…There are two verses in Leviticus. Quotes from the Revised Standard Version.
18:22 – You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination.
22:13 – If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall be put to death, their blood is upon them.
So yes, the death penalty is mandated by the Bible. The bit about “their blood is upon them” means that all guilt will be on the men being killed and not by their murderers.
