From Meet The Press‘s This Sunday: Vice President Joe Biden (video):
Joe Biden: Let me choose my words carefully here. Dick Cheney’s a fine fellow. He’s entitled to his own opinion. He’s not entitled to rewrite history. He’s not entitled to his own facts.
The Christmas Day Bomber was treated in the exact way that he suggested that the shoe bomber was treated. Absolutely the same way.
Under the Bush Administration, there were three trials in military courts. Two of those people are now walking the streets. They are free.
There were three-hundred trials of so-called terrorists — and those who have engaged in terror against the United States Of America — who are in federal prison and have not seen the light of day…Prosecuted under the last administration.
Dick Cheney’s a fine fellow, but he is not entitled to rewrite history without it being challenged. I don’t know where he has been Where was he the last four years of the last administration?
And…
…I’m not going to guess about his motives. All I know is he’s factually, substantively, wrong on the major criticisms he is asserting. Why he’s insisting on that — He’s either misinformed, or he’s misinforming.
But, the facts are that his assertions are not accurate.
And…
…Look, it’s one thing to be outspoken. It’s another thing to be outspoken in a way that misrepresents the facts. And, I just…again, it’s almost like Dick is trying to rewrite history…
I guess Vice President Biden and the Obama Administration are not holding back in their direct critism of the former Vice President. Interesting, to say the least.

Nice to see first thing in the morning…we just watched this on MSNBC, and were surprised at how strong Biden was talking…could have left out the “he’s a fine fellow”, but I was impressed.
HmmAbout friggin’ time!
Low-hanging fruitCheney has the lowest approval ratings in the country, this side of Jeffrey Dahmer. If the Obama crowd were half as serious about going after the Republicans who are currently in office, instead of chasing their namby-pamby pipe dreams of bipartisanship, both their administration and the country as a whole would be a lot better off.
Jeffrey Dahmer killed less people
but Dahmer eventually got his just desserts…We haven’t had the pleasure of seeing Cheney get his…
“hey, i’m really angry that the former second-most powerful man on earth continues to deceive the public….…but i’m going to be real nice about it, okay?”
if demon-spawn is considered to fall under the umbrella of “fine fellows”, then we need to seriously re-think the term. no wonder dems continue to eat it. the facts are the facts. republicans aren’t afraid to use the term “liar” when they feel like it.
Go Joe!Polite and forceful
Right to the point.
totally agree MattWhy does Joe Biden have to lie when trying to be tough?
We all know for a fact that Cheney isn’t a “fine fellow”…it doesn’t endear me to Joe when he lies like that.
less than impressiveThey’ve let Loose Cannon Cheney poison the airwaves for a full year with his lies. It’s time to really take the gloves off. ”Accusations not accurate.”?
His accusations are false. Say it is so, Joe. Be brave. Be honest.
Biden wants Cheney to be honest! What gall. Is this is the same Joe Biden who personally spearheaded the 2005 eviseration of federal bankruptcy acts law and the drive to allow banks and other lenders to become even more predatory? (If that’s even possible.)
Yes. It’s that Biden.
For well over a century Senatorial delegates from Delaware have been kept servants of the banks and large corporations incorporated there. Biden and his predecessors have always been part of the world’s second oldest profession with none of the human warmth or empathy of the world’s oldest profession.
The bankruptcy act of 2005 was the jewel in his crown of corruption. It’s draconian provisions came just months before the early tremors of the B.Clinton-Bush2 recession-depression. No one was exempt. Biden even refused to cut some slack for on duty soldiers in stop-loss purgatory in Iraq. Biden’s the perfect match for Obama – both are lapdogs of the looter rich.
For some odd reason Biden’s son, just two years out of college was out of the blue named an executive VP of a BofA subsidiary. Whodathunkuit?
In 2002-3 as Bush and Cheney plotted to escalate the genocidal assaults on Iraq using B. Clintons lies about WMD and their own lies about ties to Al Qaida Biden not only excitedly voted for the attack but declared in the Senate debate that:
“Why did Obama chose Biden? One important constituency pressing for Biden was no doubt the Israel lobby inside the Democratic Party. Obama, no matter how fervent his proclamations of support for Israel, has always been viewed with some suspicion… Biden has proved himself its unswerving acolyte in the senate.
“… Obama picked Biden for the same reason Michael Dukakis chose Senator Lloyd Bentsen in 1988: the marriage of youth and experience, so reassuring to uncertain voters but most of all to the elites, that nothing dangerous or unusual will discommode business as usual. Another parallel would be Kennedy’s pick of Lyndon Johnson in 1960, LBJ being a political rival and a seasoned senator. Kennedy and Johnson didn’t like each other, and surely after Biden’s racist remarks about “clean” blacks, (heres the video refresh your memory) Obama cannot greatly care for Biden. It seems he would have preferred Chris Dodd but the latter was disqualified because of his VIP loans from Countrywide.”
If it’s a contest between Biden and Cheney’s venality and coldblooded war-mongering, it’s a draw. But we lose either way.
