Sometimes “the Twitter” reveals all. In this case we have the candid words of Erick Erickson, proprietor of Red State (“the most widely read right of center blog on Capitol Hill“) regarding the Focus on the Family Tebow ad:

Erick Erickson also serves as a Deacon at Vineville Presbyterian Church. I wonder how his wife feels about those tweets? I’m sure she agrees.

Interesting…One deceptively fuzzy christianist ad: Ends credibility of feminists/feminism.
One decisive mid-term congressional election that rejects the corporatist Republican machine PLUS a presidential election that does the same and rejects its presidential
puppetcandidate: Ends legitimacy of the party that prevailed in both of those elections.Makes perfect sense to me.
Then again, my brain is a pile of stuff that fell out of my dog’s ass this morning.
“Too Ugly”As if.
This punk is married with a kid. Guess he’s too ugly to play the field, had to settle for the first person who’d go out with him.
I applaud Mr Erickson’s tweeting skillsCounting characters, and typing while your head is up Dobson’s a$$ to the shoulders…..isn’t easy, or for sissies.
Wow! That just nulled out the positive effects of the adWomen: Back to the kitchens. Jesus wants a last supper and he has 12 guests coming over NOW. Get cooking!
Feminists: Y’eer ugly, ya gots a case of de uglies and ya gots it bad.
CBS new catch phraseCBS,
For your network’s catch phrase (ie. must see TV) might I suggest
“FOCUS ON CBS FAMILY”
Your ad dept hasn’t shown itself to be exactly bursting at the seams with creativity, if the Tebow/Focus on the Family ad took them MONTHS to co-write.
This catch phrase will remind your viewers of your cozy relationship with James Dobson as you launch every new show. I bet it’ll work wonders for your ratings, and advertising budget.
The ad only had one objectionable aspect . . .. . . it asked viewers to go to the FOTF website, which is what actually contains all the vile and objectionable stuff.
I guess this means that CBS would take innocuous-looking ads from the Ku Klux Klan, for example.
Imagine a spokesmember like David Duke, scrubbed nicely and wearing a business suit without any imperial whizzer sheets, saying innocuous-sounding things about his family and community values, without crossing any lines, and the ad contains a “for more information, go to http://www.KKK.org” (which, BTW, does not look like a KKK website . . . ).
Surely CBS would have no problem with such an ad. Right?
“Did CBS lie to us about the Tim Tebow ads to draw national attention to them?”From Crooks and Liars:
HOOT… but the net counts them for you.
