Yes, Ed, I’m sure WH Spokeshill Robert Gibbs is well-aware that the era of Rahm has produced a huge amount of rage in the progressive base, but thanks for letting it all hang out. The radio show host had a recent confrontation with Gibbs. (Think Progress):
SCHULTZ: I told him he was full of sh*t is what I told him. … And then he gave me the Dick Cheney f-bomb. … I told Robert Gibbs, I said “And I’m sorry you’re swearing at me, but I’m just trying to help you out. I’m telling you you’re losing your base. Do you understand you’re losing your base?”

I gotta admit, as first I thought his “home-spunness” was a hokey act and it took awhile for me to get past. But then when I STFU’d and listened… DAMN. Man’s got his head on straight.
ed headsed is carried on am 1360 out of chapel hill from 12 – 3 daily. he takes phone calls from folks for hours every day and he has a much better idea than robert gibbs does. i used to like gibbs, now he’s annoying, same with axlerod. they should watch the new dominos commercial.
What a blowhard!!Not that I don’t like Ed most days but he couldn’t be more wrong on the idea that to be more progressive we should be fire people that work along side of us in order to better work with the people who have refused to do anything but push for our demise from behind the walls of the GOP.
Truth be told this is about What progressive are willing to do and how far they are willing to go to get the job done and to change hearts and minds. The GOP is just about frozen with apoplexy and bigotry that they are no longer in t=control and the democrats are just as scared and overwhelmed that they are in control.
If progressives want to make real changes then they should come up with a strategy that reflects something progressive. Like a strategy that accents where both parties are and a way for us to continue to move forward. Like making the democrats force the republicans into filibuster after filibuster and while the GOP is held down in the Senate and stalling the government on national TV. The dems and progressives have time to move about the country and sponsor programs and joint conferences that actually produce real jobs for real people or at least provides real opportunity to do so.
Close Guantanamo! have the military move the prisoners and then tell the world about it when its over. Then let the GOP explain to the world why all those Illinois guards should lose their jobs for the ideology of an of site US prison!
Let the dems and progressive media not only sponsor and visit health clinics but job forums as well. coaxing big companies to the table and pushing them to hire so that people are walking out with jobs on the same day. Push to reduce taxes for say a year or two to reduce the coat of new hires and be their for every photo opportunity while the republicans read the phone book in the Senate and take the hit for doing behind the scenes what they have been doing all along this entire year, hamstringing the congress and the administration and pointing fingers at everyone else over it.
