How can a “man of God” be so evil. There’s no other word for it. We can laugh at his multiple blathering of batsh*ttery, but when he steps into the role of God’s Executioner, I cannot think of anything more Satanic than Pat Robertson. (via Political Carnival):
Of course you are, Pat… after you come out with outlandishly despicable statements about why Haiti has had to deal with so much death, so many troubles. See, according to Televangelist Pat it’s because they “swore a pact at the Devil” in order to free themselves from the French. “True story. So the devil said ‘okay, it’s a deal’”. That’s why this horrific earthquake took place. Haiti asked for it. Did you know that? Apparently this Pat Robertson does.
Pat says that medicine and food from his organization are on the way. Presumably his people will also be proselytizing to survivors that they need to turn from Satan as they are given rice, beans and bread, and medicine.

I wish you were too…I live in an area that was impacted by Katrina in ’05. A bunch of local churches got together and passed out bottled water and stuff like deodorant, baby wipes, diapers, etc. While waiting in line I was approached by a preacher who tried his best to give me a bible as well. I told him I had a collection of my own – I’m the first atheist in a long line of pentecostals. Amazing how many bibles you inherit.

And then Bush gave Robertson’s Operation Blessing $66 million dollars in what looked to be a privatizing of disaster relief efforts during hurricane Katrina, much like we witnessed with the no-bid private contractors in Iraq. The majority of non-religious, but community-based non-for-profits, were left off the list for government assistance. In fact, aside the Red Cross, only one other secular group was given funding by the Bush administration towards the reconstruction of New Orleans. Now that was funny.

Mobutu Sese Seko of (what was then called) Zaire. They ran a for-profit joint venture to extract diamonds from the country and to export them for sale abroad. Mobutu was one of the most corrupt dictators in history, siphoning billions of dollars from the impoverished country. So obviously, being a good Christian, Robertson followed the example of Christ and tried to make a profit by partnering with a kleptocrat, while stripping Zaire of a limited natural resource.
We won’t even get into his association with Guatemalan dictator and gross human rights violator Efrain Rios Montt.

OK, it’s an archived story, but look at the hyperlinks at the right referencing Iris Robinson and her, er, boy friend Kirk McCambley.
So, it looks like a forecast of “cloudy, with a chance of chocolate balls” over northern Ireland. There goes Mr. Robinson’s government, maybe the peace accord, and possibly a Sinn Féin government in Stormont Castle, all because a loudly pious Christian got too fond of chocolate balls.

Pat Robertson’s god has to be the most feckless divine entity in the cosmos.
This whole story about Haiti supposedly is basically racist colonial propaganda from white missionaries back in the day. Someone upthread linked the story via Salon. While I am not a practitioner of Vodoun I have a passing familiarity with it and ATR (African Traditional Religion) in general and I’ve never heard of a ceremony like that. There’s no evidence that the slave in question was even a mambo (priest). It smacks of all the bullshit Roman propaganda about the Druids practicing human sacrifice.
