Well, computer condoms, anyways.

American Family Filter can help, whether your concern is for your children who use the Internet, your spouse who spends secret computer time, or your personal struggle against online pornography.

I guess actually talking to your spouse about your concerns over their online frolics would be out of the question.  As for installing a filter yourself to hinder your own online porn addiction, isn’t that like handing the jailhouse keys to the convicts?  The idiocy of this ad boggles the mind, but then again it is AFA, so…

I wonder if the software automatically blocks Peter LaBarbera‘s prurient “field studies”-based website, Americans For Truth About Homosexuality?  Now there’s a software developer’s conundrum.  What to do with a “Christian” website that depicts gay SM, posts photos of public sex and tosses off phrases like “cramming his penis into another man’s lower intestine”.

And is it just me, or are they tweaking the latent porn addiction gene in readers with their condom-shaped logo?

Apparently porn addiction is a big problem among evangelicals.  SafeFamilies.org reports:

Over half of evangelical pastors admits viewing pornography last year.

And if they block themselves from viewing it at home, they can still get it at the Mormon-related hotel chain Marriott, which sells on-demand porn to its guests.  It’s the same old hypocrisy: do as I say, not as I do.  It seems to be the price of repressing natural, healthy sexuality.  One wonders if talibangical-type shame-generating denial of normal human sexuality might underpin the crimes cataloged by Dan Savage over at SLOG in his ongoing series Youth Pastor Watch.  Sadly, he never seems to lack for material.
