Chaz was on Good Morning America describing his life’s progression and how he came to be a public advocate for the LGB and now the T.
A few days ago Blend reader Hector sent me a link to this wonderful New York Times article about the pianist Sara Davis Buechner. Both of these stories, not to mention the story of our own barista Autumn, remind me how much is at stake in terms of privacy and profession for people who transition as adults. I thank Chaz, Sara, Autumn and so many Blend readers for allowing me to walk a moment in their shoes.

Are you familiar with Alexander James Adams?Celtic songwriter and musician, he performed for many years as Heather Alexander before transitioning. He is still performing under his new identity. By and large, his fan base has been been very supportive.

I wanted to addAlex’ interview with Just Out about the disappearance of Heather and his stepping in as her “heir” can be found at http://www.justout.com/archive… The interview starts on page 24; you will need to use the link bar at the top to continue to page 25.
Ooh, I hadn’t heard from him recently…I have quite a few CDs around with him performing as Heather Alexander, both as the lead artist and as a supporting violin player. (I can sometimes recognize his session playing by a few signature violin riffs on popular Irish tunes — once I knew what to listen for I found I already had more of his music than I knew.)
We still have a way to goLook at the comments on Huffington Post, a place not exactly a bastion of Conservative Fundamentalism.
Some are pretty nauseating.
I think so too, but we’re making some headway.I take both Chaz’s and Sara’s stories as evidence that we do still have quite a ways to go, but that we’ve come a long way already as well. ENDA ENDA ENDA we need ENDA!
