A new organization called Youth Revolution popped up in Washington recently. I’ve written a bit about them here. YR’s Executive Director is none other than Russell Johnson, Director of Governmental Affairs for the Focus on the Family/Family Research Council affiliate Family Policy of Institute of Washington. FPIW is the local organization that helped funnel over $200,000 of James Dobson’s Colorado money into Washington’s Referendum 71 campaign. YR, a youth recruiting tool, has posted the following video on their front page. Without comment, I give you “The Government Can”.

Oh the ironyThis video from a group whose ideal government is a Christian Fascist Police state.
He wants to sing about goverment handouts? How about the big fat tax exemption Focus On The Family receives.
Double standard if there ever was one.
love it or leave itFrom the same people who scream “socialist” at Progressives we get a musical propaganda blurb for anarchy. Throw away the Constitution?: wasn’t that Cheney & Bush? Are these idiotic blurbs from people who are rich enough to thrive without government services? Looking forward to the Dark Ages is not my idea of progress. But then in Medieval times it was the rich warlords and the church “Dominion” that laughed and frolicked and dictated while most cowered in their serfdom.
one of the talking points is:Free Enterprise, private property and individual liberty is the most effective way to ensure the greatest blessing for the most people
1st point-has anyone ever dared ask a fundie what “individual liberty” is?
2nd point- what do they mean by “greatest blessing for the most people”?
Don’t miss out on the fun….go blog with the YR!

To quote Grand daddy on the BoondocksOh my Lord Sweet Jesus!
I’m sorry but that video unnerved meThat video was gayer than Angela Lansbury doing Rose’s Turn in the musical Gypsy.
I’m just shocked.
Once again the old song needs sung! You’ve got to be taught
To hate and fear,
You’ve got to be taught
From year to year,
It’s got to be drummed
In your dear little ear
You’ve got to be carefully taught.
You’ve got to be taught to be afraid
Of people whose eyes are oddly made,
And people whose skin is a diff’rent shade,
You’ve got to be carefully taught.
You’ve got to be taught before it’s too late,
Before you are six or seven or eight,
To hate all the people your relatives hate,
You’ve got to be carefully taught!
See what happens when White straight guys try to write lyrics and danceOMFG…it isn’t pretty
Tim Hawkins’ (the singer’s) bio……says that he’s equally gifted and twisted. And, that he’s got 4 kids of his own and a wife who is winning her battle with breast cancer.
To be fair, his contact number has an 817 (Fort Worth, TX) area code, and as far as I can tell, the link to his video from the YR site is ideologically, not Washington-based.
With all of their support of anti-gay activism, though, it’s curious and more than a little fun to see them promoting a comic who is not quite, uhhhh, straight-acting.
I’d say more twisted than gifted.just sayin’
Well, Stop The Faith Based Initiativesbecause they clearly don’t want taxes used for social issues. I am fine with that.
was listeningand my cat crawled onto the keyboard and stopped the video. she apparently loved it as much as i did.
All I could thinkwhile watching this clown was; He wants to be Glenn Dreck.
That Deleriously Sequined American Flagis used on the GOP’s tokenist “heroes” page.

snap!
Keyboard Cat!
Christian stateI agree with the commenter above. Even though it was put a bit harshly. We can’t b turned into a Fascist state.
As a white manI want to remind my white brothers to NEVER dance. What was that? Wow.
You think this guy is STRAIGHT???Talentless, yes, but STRAIGHT??? Sorry, but I have to agree with Alvin’s comments above.
“power-hungry and malicious”Am I the only one who is appalled to hear a spokesbot for the religious right, the most power-hungry, malicious pack of villains in the world, tear into the government for being power-hungry and malicious?
So, on the one hand, this jerk objects to the government “taking” our money, and on the other hand he objects equally strongly when they want to spend it on us–to ive it back to us in the form of health care, education, etc. No, folks, irony is not dead. And that’s not to mention the fact that these dimwits are enthusiastic supporters of both faith-based initiatives and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, which are…yep…government programs.
Creepyand now I have the Candy Man song stuck in my head!
Seems More Likethe Youth Counter-Revolution to me.
I didn’t say the singer was straight, the lyric writer is straightThe singer is just talent challenged. He’s also the WHITEST dancer since Lawrence Welk show’s BOBBY.
Cole Porter is somewhere with a mouth full of VOMIT.
the lyricist of this, should team up with Pam’s Star Trek parody screenwriterSee straight folks….it only “looks” EASY and EFFORTLESS when we do it.
Maybe White folks who weren’t raised dancing with Black partnersMy folks were nearly sure I’d be with a Black girl, when I was in Jr. High…all the school and Y dances I was with the Black group in my class. My next older brother(3 yrs. my senior) was a good dancer, and he and his girlfriend went to the earliest racially mixed dance clubs. So at eleven or twelve I was enjoying Sam and Dave, while my friends at school were listening to Snoopy the Red Barron.
It’s too badwe can’t actually send them both to Planet Atheist.
