First off I’m voting APPROVED on Referendum 71 because I just got my ballot in the mail!
After that, there are so many options for helping the Approve 71 effort. Below I’ve listed the major Saturday events that will help us best lock in votes. Let me know in the comments if you have other Referendum 71-related plans for the weekend you’d like to share. And of course, phone banks are open around the state most days of the week. Search for events in your area here. If you don’t see what you want, you can also use that site to organize your own event. Pretty schnazzy.
Saturday Approve 71 Events:
Canvassing / Doorbelling in Seattle (11 am), Tacoma (12 noon) and Vancouver (9:30 am)
Tabling at Panache in Seattle (starts 12 noon) and in Vancouver at the Farmer’s Market (starts 10 am).
Phone banking in Seattle. Shifts begin 11 am and 2 pm.
By now you’ve probably heard that the opposition is planning another round of visibilities on Saturday. I personally think that our phoning and doorbelling are the most effective ways to lock in real votes, but visibilities can be fun and a great way to educate passers-by too. So after my canvassing shift I may head out to a major intersection near my house and treat myself to a little sign-waving.
Here is my question to others pondering visibilities: Is it productive to try to compete with the opposition in places they’ve already announced they’ll be, or is it better to do our own thing elsewhere?
Whatever the answer, be sure to include a clear “Approve Ref. 71 – Protect ALL Washington Families” message on your signs.

I hope the ease of having ballots mailed out increases voter turn outdo you have a WA poll of how 71 is testing?
I think knocking on doors is the best tried and true way to get votes. most folks are friendlier to a live person they are talking with, than those who just hang up the phone.
Maybe tables at shopping centers reminding folks to vote would be less intrusive to voters, and reach more folks quicker.
the polls say its a dead heat.whoever is better at gotv wins.
i agree about talking to people face-to-face. nothing like it. i’m looking forward to tomorrow’s canvass.
