Every time this man opens his trap, it’s a sewer of BS that flows out.
My response to religious fundamentalist Bill Donohue
Whew..for a second I thought you wrote Phil Donahue. We can go back to making fun of this guy.
Yes, Bill, God intended for priests to not-marry their parishonersand not-raise their biological children. The children fathered by priests should be adopted by infertile married practicing Catholics. Yep, you’re right.
If this story weren’t on the front of today’s NY Times, Bill’s eruption would be random. As it is, it’s a distraction attempt.
The Church has a problem, which is that no emotionally healthy adult man would WANT a job that requires him to go without intimacy for his entire life…so yeah, you see some messed up people doing things like carrying on affairs with multiple married and teenage females at once.
I feel badly for their victims but at some point the Church’s demand that I too be victimized, by my country’s law, becomes farcical–and I think we’re there.
Thanks Donna this was fun to wake up toI couldn’t detest Donohue more if he smelled like as ugly as he looks. He is as putrid as they come, and annoying and humorless, and judgemental….hey ya bloated clod, who died and made you POPE? The SOB must be nearly 900 f*ckin’ years old, he’s been a pain in the a$$ as far back as I can remember, (that’s the Jurrasic era.)
Love her.The best $5 I ever spent was getting a student-priced ticket to see her at the UT Austin Student ballroom.
On the gay v. pedophile thing . . . Donahue is only taking his cue from my friend, Archbishop Silvano Tomasi, whose recent pronouncement on the subject of pedophile priests really being “ephebophile” priests and mostly having a “gay” orientation.
Of course, as I pointed out in that thread, Archbishop Tomasi knows at least one of these priests, who lived in the same seminary with both of us in the early 1970′s – Dino Cinel.
I can buy the Archbishop’s nuance only to a point – calling it “ephebophilia” works, in those cases where the victims are postpubescent. But these ephebophilic priests are not necessarily gay, even if they abuse boys. Cinel is an example – a since-married straight man, who has a compulsion to engage in sexual activity with young-looking men (Cinel’s way to try to avoid problems was to seek out young-looking men of legal age to satisfy his craving).
Ephebophilia aimed at teen-age boys is indicative of ephebophilia, not homosexuality. Men who rape women are not all heterosexual, either. There is an issue of power or control that sexual predators share that is not restricted to a single sexual orientation.
Donahue is wrong as usual, but in this case, as is often the case, he is following the hierarchy’s party line.
Yeah, Holy Mother Church has a problem, all rightWell, actually, several problems. 1) Hordes of child-rapists in its ranks. 2) Spending money on the persecution of minorities instead of on maintaining its own churches. 3) Having to rely on buffoons like Donohue to
spinmake their case in public. 4) The impossible, self-defeating task of trying to convince men and women in the modern world that they should live their lives by a set of totally artificial, easily discredited medieval principles.Of course, these problems are all self-generated. But maybe that’s inevitable for an institution that doggedly refuses to enter the 21st century.
Does that make Jesus a termite?Liberal Christians are termites?!!! Does he include Jesus in that group? Maybe he should stop worrying about the political affiliation of people in his church and start living up to the meaning of the word “christian”. I don’t think Jesus would ever call anyone a termite.
Pretty muchThe sole group of people that could be happy with that role would be aromantic asexuals, a tiny minority of a tiny minority and why the fuck would they waste their life preaching ways to steal poor people’s money for rich men in dresses back in Roma when they can go out and do something USEFUL and FUN with their surfeit of free time.
It is however a great attractor to people who like to use power without consequences who inevitably also turn out to be rapists, child molesters, and abusers. Funny how that works.
They’re also trying to exploitThe fact that the media has most fixated on the rapes of little boys in order to pretend it’s all about gayness when the church has also raped an equivalent number of little girls as well.
I believe he is the closest manifestation of evil on this planet and I can’t wait until the media realize that he is just a tiny man out to censor everyone he doesn’t like in the name of something far more powerful.
This is like if the media pretended Fred Phelp’s protests were good reasons to stop things.
@Bill DonohueI posted this on the open thread on a Kevin Jennings story, but it’s the PERFECT response to Donahue’s HATE

“the opposite of war isn’t peace
it’s creation”
The only reason…why the Catholic Church might have a “homo problem” is that they have personal bejeebers about the matter.
The only reason they don’t have a pedophile problem is that they that have a mechanism for obfuscating the truth about their priests.
The reason boys were targeted by both staraight and gay pedofile priestsACCESS…just like prison sex
Nuns see both sex children, not Priests.
Isn’t it amazing what a stink just one man with a computer and an axe to grind can make?
“And then I found out that the Catholic League was one dude with a computer.” lol
Pedophilia (or “ephebophilia,” nudge nudge wink wink)wasn’t a problem for them for centuries, at least not one they felt compelled to address. Not until the media started noticing it in the 90s. Until then they were perfectly fine with the child-rapists, gay or straight, in their priesthood. See Homosexuality and Civilization by Louis Crompton, which includes the text of a 14th letter from a group of parents in Florence to their bishop, begging him to do something about the priest who’s been screwing their children and asking why all their previous requests have never led to action of any kind. This swinishness has been part and parcel of the Catholic hierarchy for centuries, possibly as long as the church itself has been in existence.
makes scents to meI misread your “aromantic asexuals” as “aromatic asexuals” which seemed inline with Petey’s thinking in the first reply to the Kathy Griffin video. Made me laugh when I realized my mistake.

a gender f*ck you!
21st??Try refusing to enter the 17th!
LOLPoint taken.
*14th century
(Well, I doubt it’s quite that long since once upon a time they were just fine with married priests.)
Nah, Jesus doesn’t count –Jesus was a liberal Jew. Not sure Donohue trusts those.
LOLWhy does the bishop smell like roasted garlic?
It was the only way to assure we weren’t hiring a pedophile. We’re taking on aromatic asexuals.
The ban on priestly marriage dates from the 10th or 11th century.
hell they had married popes they had officially recognised children of pope’s kids by mistresses
