I had lowered expectationsso I was surprised when he went beyond mentioning hate crimes & immigration equality, and stated his support for an inclusive ENDA w/ gender identity, for repealing DADT & DOMA. Of course he’ll have to back up those words with action by the next election if he wants my swing state vote again.
Not funny.Even those of us who did support Hillary in the primary gave our hearts, souls, and wallets to Obama in the general. We believed his promises. So why hasn’t he delivered yet?
And btw, this isn’t over primary wars. This is about our very lives!

HmmI’m taken aback on the negative comments in the chat room concerning the Presidents speech. Considering what this president was handed by the previous administration it is a miracle that anything is getting done. I live in NH where great strides have been made. Remember this was one of the most conservative states in the country 10 years ago. I foresee a huge problem if gays start to become disappointed with the rate of change and start throwing rocks at the people who are doing their damndest to bring about this change. A lousy 5% voter swing in this state could throw the Democrats out of power and bring back the likes of Sununu the Senior. Glenn Beck and Limbaugh and crew are salivating over the thought of being able to report a negative response to Obama’s speech tonite. They will turn it into a negative report that feed right into their anti Obama rhetoric. In three years you may very easily be looking at a Republican Congress and a President Romney (LDS church) in the White House. The reason I mention the LDS church is because of the time and money they spent fighting gay marriage in California and now are doing in Maine. What I’m saying is think before you bite. I know you’ve go a lot of pent up emotion but damn it, don’t do something you’ll regret later.
I’m thinking about my homophobic family in North Carolina and their straight Christian neighbors. They hear him standing up for us, yes all of US LGBT’S dick slapped every Sunday for being sinners, the most despised minority in America out to “recruit your children”. Shit, are you people thinking rationally ? Obama is the greatest force we have ever seen bringing the whole community of humanity together in this world. Let’s not think locally, but globally. I think most on this blog are thinking locally and how much money they can raise for their state cause for marriage. It’s high school cheerleading for your team, not a peaceful solution for the world.
