UPDATE: I was on NPR/WUNC radio today at noon ET to discuss the state of the LGBT rights movement. From host Frank Stasio's writeup:
This weekend, President Barack Obama will address one of the nation's largest gay advocacy groups. Some are calling the speech Obama's biggest show of support for the LGBT community so far. On today's show, host Frank Stasio takes a look at some of the big news stories and recent legislation that could have an impact on gay rights in America. Joining the program is Greg Nevins, Senior Staff Attorney at the Southern Regional Office of Lambda Legal, and Durham blogger Pam Spaulding, who was the keynote speaker at this year's North Carolina Pride Festival. Also, actors from Burning Coal Theatre in Raleigh perform an excerpt of "The Laramie Project," a play written in response to the 1998 murder of Matthew Shepard that will be read around the country to honor the 11th anniversary of the controversial hate crime.
The full audio is now available on the show's web site, or below.

This Lamda Legal Lawyer TALKS for a living? He sounds really nervous and is rambling and sometimes incoherent……
Pam – You’re GREAT!!!!! You are always on your game when you speak. Ever think about going to law school?
Great job, Pam!I’m listening right now, and I’m really proud of you for turning the whole “What about teh chil’un??!!” argument on its head with the NC anti-discrimination law.
Thanks for the Real Audo link….I get it! You sound great. ….Want to add for those who haven't seen it yet. reported on Towleroad @ http://tinyrul.com/yc7gm2k Montana Supreme Court Judge in his concurring decision of parental custody case.
…Pam still on re Matthew Shepart Case…must run.
Btw, speaking of “The Laramie Project”…We have a mini-scandal emerging here where some anti-equality forces are trying to cancel my local high school’s production. I hope all of my fellow Blenders in Las Vegas show solidarity by buying a ticket (or FOUR!) for Monday’s one night special!
DADTWhy not tack a DADT amendment to the funding bill for the wars in the Middle East? If we’re going to put more troops in Afghanistan, wouldn’t it make sense to not remove those who are in the military already? D’oh.
Fits right into the mission.
I like Frankhe seems to be good on covering lgbt issues as far as WUNC goes. He had me on to talk about Jim Neal’s campaign (an openly gay man who ran for US Senate here in NC), and I hear him talking about lgbt issues more than most media figures in the area.
You did a great job btw, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than the lambda legal guy (not that the lambda legal guy did a bad job or anything, we need all the voices & advocates we can get).
