Josh at Right Wing Watch emails me some of the most over-the-top stuff and this is no exception. With the hanging of that census worker Bill Sparkman in Kentucky with “FED” on his chest, it’s not hard to compile TEH CRAZY. Take a look at the legitimacy that Faux News gives the deranged Michele Bachmann as she whips up hysteria and paranoia over the 2010 Census.
Over at Jesus’ General, one of his commenters is a census worker who works in the deep woods of western North Carolina mountain country. This person gives a first-hand account about the sentiment out there.
The overwhelming anger is directed straight at the President. No question. Fear and racism at the core that has manifested into anti-government radicalism. We’re threatened and intimidated almost daily, just for trying to earn a days pay and uphold the Constitution. I’ve been called an “employee of president nigger” and team members have been bitten by dogs and threatened with shotguns.

It might be a good thing that the census takersjust quit going to these places to count people. They will get what they deserve when their county is undercounted, less of my tax money.

I worked for the Census in ’80, and what they don’t tell the folks is that we take an oath of silence for 72 years… and we’re required by law NOT to report what we see.
Census takers are there to count how many folks are living at an address — that’s all. I went to a few homes where the owner was afraid I’d report who could’ve been illegal immigrants, but I did My job.
AFAIK, NO other agency is allowed to look at the Census Bureau’s returned forms — not the FBI, DHS, ATF, etc.
I hope the local, state and federal law enforcement agencies find the b@stards who murdered my colleague, and throws them in a dark prison cell for life, and start going after those who instigated their paranoia.

Phone numbers, tooOf all the dumb crap Bachman has been spouting, the craziest is her warning that the government wants to get your phone number through the census! Hasn’t she ever heard of a phone book? You don’t even have to be internet-savvy to see through that one.

“BIG CREEK, Ky. – A part-time census worker found hanging in a rural Kentucky cemetery was naked, gagged and had his hands and feet bound with duct tape, said an Ohio man who discovered the body two weeks ago.
The word “fed” was written in felt-tip pen on 51-year-old Bill Sparkman’s chest, but authorities have released very few other details in the case, such as whether they think it was an accident, suicide or homicide.
Jerry Weaver of Fairfield, Ohio, told The Associated Press on Friday that he was certain from the gruesome scene that someone killed Sparkman.
“He was murdered,” Weaver said. “There’s no doubt.”

“The only thing he had on was a pair of socks,” Weaver said. “And they had duct-taped his hands, his wrists. He had duct tape over his eyes, and they gagged him with a red rag or something.”
