This just in from Equality California. EQCA, I could kiss ya! But you all already know the special place I hold in my heart for intrepid phone bankers.
Dear Lurleen,
Your help is urgently needed.
Current polls show that we are two points behind in Maine and have only 51% support in Washington.
Your involvement now could mean the difference between victory and defeat in these extremely low turn-out elections.
Sign up today to call Maine and Washington voters near you:
Fresno Los Angeles Orange County Palm Springs Redlands Sacramento San Diego San Francisco Silicon Valley If you can’t make it to one of our phone banks, sign up to make calls from home for Maine or for Washington.
Victories in these two states are crucial for victory in California, and we have an opportunity and responsibility to support these critical fights.
So far, our movement has lost in every state where we’ve face a referendum on marriage. That’s why we need to stop this here and now. Join us to call voters.
In solidarity,
Geoff Kors

ANYONE Can Join the Virtual Phone Bank -Any state, any locale.
With all due respect….I really am at a loss as to why EQ CA has entirely abandoned the gay marriage fight for 2010 in CA but can find the guts to fight 3K miles away in Maine. I am sure Maine gays sincerely apprciate your support and perhaps you may consider changing your name to EQ ME.
Makes complete sense to me.At the risk of getting off topic, EQCA has stated that they feel that CA isn’t ripe for another initiative, but will completely back an initiative if the 2010 group manages to get one on the ballot. However, Maine and Washington are forced to deal with referenda right now, whether we feel the time is right or not. We are at risk of losing crucial rights in two states. EQCA’s willingness to donate phone lines for a few weeks makes complete sense to me. Besides, there’s been an outpouring of interest from California pro-equality volunteers to help in ME and WA. Why shouldn’t their organizations harness that generosity by facilitating phone banks.
