I know you're getting out your hankies for this sob story, right?

So The Savage Nation's once-flagship station, KNEW [910 AM] in, as Michael Savage would say, San Fran-Freako, has unceremoniously dumped the blowhard host.

Giving listeners only a brief statement — “Here's your no-spin direct answer; we have decided to go in a different philosophical and ideological direction, featuring more contemporary content and more local information.  The Savage Nation does not fit into that vision” — station management lost no time in introducing the duo who inherit Savage's prime drive-time slot.

The Examiner's Bill Bowman also notes:

What I find really interesting is the response this move has generated from Savage Nation listeners outraged over their host's booting. Not surprisingly, many are posing “Big Government” conspiracy theories as the reason for the move. Amazing. As if the Obama administration even cares about Savage and his spittle-filled rants. Do these people reproduce?

Savage's replacements are John Chester Kobylt and Kenneth Robertson Chiampou, known on-air as John and Ken, who are younger Southern California radio personalities. According to Wikipedia, they are definitely not mini-Savages.

The hosts eschew any party labels, or loyalties, but could be considered populist. They frequently lean conservative, especially with regard to illegal immigration, crime, and taxes.[20] They support strong sentences for child molesters and murderers, the death penalty, Megan's Law, Jessica's Law, and oppose driver's licenses for illegal immigrants. They are libertarian in other aspects, such as being pro-choice, supporting gays in the military,[21] opposing the influence of the Religious Right on American politics, opposing the Iraq War, opposing funds for public transportation, and opposing tax increases. “Big government” positions they take include further construction of freeways, funding for embryonic stem cell research, an enhanced federal role in emergency preparedness for FEMA, increased federal law enforcement on the border. They tend to be moderate to liberal on the use of marijuana.
