Daniel2009 dropped some brilliant snark over in my diary Straight seniors rely on domestic partnerships.
If they allow senior citizens to be domestic partners the schools will to teach kids about senior citizens having sex.

This was, of course, in reference to the “they’ll teach our chuldrun teh gay!” scare ads used so effectively in CA last year. But now that heterosexual senior citizens are part of the equation, am I alone in thinking that some most excellent parody videos are waiting to be made? I think the best way to illustrate the total absurdity of the opposition’s ads isn’t to talk about senior sex, but to simply talk about seniors getting domestic partnerships at all. What do you think? Below I’ve embedded one of the classics from the California Prop H8 campaign, but I’ve altered the printed transcript accordingly. Please feel free to submit your own script or video.
Narrator: Some say that seniors getting domestic partnerships doesn’t have anything to do with schools.
Teacher: But it has everything to do with schools.
Woman: After Washington legalized domestic partnerships for the elderly, our son came home and told us the school taught him that geezers can form families with grannies [image of book Teddy's Granny Weds Tommy's Gramps]. He’s in 2nd grade.
Man: We tried to stop public schools from teaching children about partnering elders, but the court said we had no right to object or pull him out of class.
Teacher: It’s already happened in Massachusetts. Domestic partnerships for senior citizens will be taught in our schools unless we vote No on the Love Referendum.

I know exactly the person to do it…Keith Hartman has already done a couple of very funny “anti-gay” spoof videos, both of which had very good production levels and have exactly the right kind of style. I think they’ve been featured on the Blend previously.
Here’s an Xtranormal version…
I’d also like to see the religious angleThose that oppose SSM are bringing Christian teachings into our schools.
Our children are being taught that being Jewish, Muslim, Hindu or Islamic is a bad thing.
You can add Atheist & Agnostic to that list.
I wish I was taught boys could marry boys in 2nd gradeThere sure was no problem pushing presumed heterosexuality on me from (early as I can remember) 5 years old and on.
For republican to not want more government For republican to not want more government they are sure leading the way in bringing it right to everyones bedroom.
of courseThe only government interference they want is to be able to tell you how to live your life according to their rules.
I think think parodies are the wrong way to goI think the message we should be putting out there is what our kids are actually learning in school about gay people now:
Larry King- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v…
6th grade suicides- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v…
We should be asking the questions people need to hear. Like if we aren’t teaching equality, acceptance and understanding in school, then what exactly are our kids learning?
the fundamental flaw of the anti-gay establishment is that it assumes too muchIt rienforces the stereotype that everything is basically equal now and making no changes would do little harm. They continue to make these incidents look like isolated events rather than the pattern of bigotry and hate continually presented to our community. Worst of all, they continue to lay a path of indifference and naivete that somehow their positions on marriage equality or their fear of what is being taught about gays to the public isn’t part of this engine of bigotry and hate that has sustained these civic and religious stereotypes for centuries.
i think there’s room for many approaches.no one approach speaks to everyone. some people can’t be reached with logic and reason in the way you’re describing.
Even more specific, though –The hetero-supremacists are insisting that the values of their branch of Christianity be taught as objective, capital-t Truth in public schools. If they get their way, it really is only a matter of time until they start trying to ban ideas from the “wrong” branches of Christianity — hell, they’re already calling the UCC “anti-Christian”.
Senior Nookie????That’s not the worst part. The worst part will be when the schools start teaching Our Precious Children that Old is just another quote-unquote so-called “alternative lifestyle”. You mark my words, they’ll make old look so attractive that before you know it, everyone will get old! Then where will we be?!?!?
