Blogwhore and link-share…
I received an email from Mike Ritter, the graphic designer and illustrator at The Southern Voice, and he said:
Love the Blend! Saw you had a little brief about the Catholic Diocese of Maine’s budget priorities and I thought you might enjoy a cartoon I did on that topic for SoVo a few weeks ago:
Well, when I clicked over, it was brilliant…so I asked and received permission to reprint it (the original page is here).
As you might recall, the Catholic Diocese of Maine “found” $100K (via Bishop Richard Malone) to put to work to repeal marriage equality in Maine, but apparently God’s priority was to hate on the gays first and close more churches in the state.

They’re only hurting themselves in the end.Crap like this is why people are leaving the church in droves, and even some that aren’t leaving refuse to tithe.
A few days ago…..….I posted a diary entry that also showed how “Catholic Charities” received a federal contract in the amount of $100,000,000 for “disaster relief.” (Yes that’s right, one hundred million!)
Now my problem with this, as I see it, our federal government is rewarding an inherently bigoted organization that actively injects its political views into our secular laws.
How are
UGH! Last line was supposed to read: “How are we able to keep this crap from happening?”
OMG! I can’t write today!“…..actively injects its ‘religious’ views……”
Man if they could tie those relief funds to gay baching support…It would be so unpopular that it wouldn’t even have to be illegal. Which is I suspect true for so many other organizations like the Mormon church, Focus on the family, and many of the local movements.
Of course it can be tied…….…..by giving them the contract, it frees up “church” funds that would normally go toward their “charitable” organizations to continue their gay bashing (of course all the while closing even more parishes.)

Stand up, “christians”, and repeat your next new catch-phrase (along with “homosexual agenda”, “death panels”, and “David Letterman rapes children…..with his mouth!”:
“The internet and real life are two different things.”
AGAIN!
“The internet and real life are two different things.”
EXCELLENT
seriously……there should be an ad stating about the poor who NEED help paying thier HEAT BILLS in MAINE this Winter, the under-staffed/and under-fed at Soup Kitchens..the Homeless on the Frozen streets of Maine….and Trying to keep Loving cpls apart warrants the Church giving all that $$$??? Disgraceful!
Some of them ENJOY hurting themselvesBring in the hair shirts, whips, and leg cutting chain devices and you got some tickled monks, priests, bishops, and cardinals.
I knew the president of the ATONS, (the better leather group in MPLS), he was having dinner with two men in REAL SEVERE leather, (including one hobbled), they were two visiting priests from Chicago.
The Real Story Behind the Diocese Donations? It appears that the Roman Cathonic Diocese may have been receiving funds from donors and passing those funds through as donations to the political campaign against same-sex marriage in order to help keep those donors anonymous, which would make these donations illegal as donors need to be publicly disclosed. Serving as pass-through entities makes these organizations look a bit shady, especially when donors are required to publicly disclose their donations to deter campaigns against money laundering and other potential fraudulent activities, and especially when religious organizations such as the Roman Catholic Diocese are built upon a foundation of fundamentally-good virtues that include love, compassion, honesty and trust.
please, 100k is the pope’s monthly shoe budgethow many millions does the vatican spend every year maintaining the opulent lifestyles on those connected to it? for those who have still not seen what a sham the catholic establishment is, this is not going to change their minds. it’s a great cartoon, though.
If that can be provenI have no doubt that would be very interesting to Maine’s AG.
It makes sense; the “only 4 individual donors in Maine” on SFMM’s disclosure filed with the state this summer didn’t pass the laugh test.
Knights of Columbus is the vehicle they use.Bishops and Cardinals all over America, maybe worldwide, could send their money thru Knights of Columbus, and their individual parishes or dioces wouldn’t bear the blowback of demonstrations. That’s what prop 8 taught us. just as LDS funnels their donations thru NOM.
Well…I thought electing Obama would stop this crap, but he just keeps on doling it out in the Faith Based Initiatives. On this subject he is no better than Bush.
Actually,I think he’s worse. He has expanded these “faith-based” hate groups’ funding programs.
Kev saw an article on white privilidge on Queerty, and thought of you http://www.queerty.com/lest-yo…
“The voices of LGBT people of color are generally not included unless the white LGBT group wants to reach out to communities of color. If LGBT people are included, they are often only done so as tokens and only if they agree with the white LGBT narrative.”
petey, did you see the comments with that article?I was appalled at the reaction of the readers to that piece. They basically shredded the author for mentioning the existence of white privilege and spent most of the time condemning him rather than discussing the vantage point from both sides. Sad and sickening.
No I didn’t even have time to read the articleMy hubby needed me to do some wedding contract stuff just as I mentioned it to kev, so I shut down the page on Queerty. It doesn’t suprise me, they get some nasty racist trolls, when the male model of the Morning Goods isn’t white.
Now I read the article and most of the commentsI think it gives you a pretty good sample (cross section)of how white gay men talk when they think no POC is listening.(btw they would say sh*t about women and lesbians with the same confidence only men read it) There are some blatant provocatuers and trolls who do put trash on Queerty threads, but that isn’t all that’s going on in that comment section. The volume and quanity of comments is also much more than a non-race related thread. What gay men wouldn’t post on your site, or say to your face or to kev’s face.
i admit I don’t visit Queerty for their articles, I glance at their daily guy, and don’t comment usually. There was pretty ugly stuff about Obama before Hillary was beaten in the primary, as I recall.
Just curious did you or kev make a comment there?
Pam you might invite the author to contribute a diary here
InterestingFor any other organizations they would call it money-laundering. Should Churches really get a pass on this?
Catholic Church is always anti-equality, anti democraticanti-woman, and pro aristocracy.
Read some of the blogs of people who are afilliated with some of the Catholics “kinghts,” not columbus, which are pollitical footsoldiers, but kinghts of st stepher or knights of st john. Americans who celebrate an aristocracy and desire a reining in of democracy. You cannot even belong to most of these orders unless you can prove descent from old feudal nobility.
The “Tradition, Property and Family” group is based upon this kind of thinking; honoured, encouraged and respected by Rome.
During the 23-F coup in Spain, when the fascists seized the Legislature(the Cortes) The Archbishop of Madrid had the old Falangist flag hanging outside of his palace raised nearly immediately.
(It spent most of its existence framed, defaced with the letters UCM and hanging in the office of a Lesbian feminist)
